in the mood for Black and Whites

Jul 31, 2017,03:20 AM

all captured amatuerishly by me and my OPPO phone from two generations removed. All my own rides, featuring some Singapore cityscape at night, often the wees hours of the morning.

My F430 outside a former hardware store that got converted into one of the most trendy cafe and craft beer place at a gentrified area call Lavender.

My Mustang outside depature hall of Terminal Three Changi Airport, overlooking the iconic Changi Airport Control Tower.

My GTR at Church of St Bernadette, which was one of the post war churches. Built in a record 6 months in 1960, its is a landmark for the area, with its angular symmetrical layout done in Modern School, with lots of panes and planes.

My Murcielago parked outside the Singapore Steel and Machinery Association, which was founded in 1935. the facade is Art Deco, and the chinese words for the association literally translate into "The Five Metals Association" which refers to gold, silver, iron, copper and tin.

Hope you guys enjoy my amatuer B/W phone photography.

Best, Horo

Nice photos. Even I visit Singapore often, all those areas are unknown to me. Perhaps I spend too big part of my leisure time in the basement of Hyatt in Orchard. Best, Kari

Thanks mate. Actually the church is just down the road from Hyatt

But it certainly cannot agree with the activities that lingers at Hyatt basement!! 😄😛 Best, Horo

I'm nearly always travelling with my family,

I'm in SG on average once every month. Always for a short trip, rarely with any time for things like horological excursions. I have had coffee at the Hyatt. I have had Sunday brunch at the Hyatt. I have had drinks at the Hyatt - upstairs on the first floo...

Take your 430 with you. I will arrive Singapore on 22nd August with my wife and 3-years old daughter. Two kids, 21 & 18 just spent a month in Singapore practicing in the local hospital. We will fly back home on 27th midnight. Best, Kari

Lovely selection

so which is your favourite if you had to name one?

they are different, I will do a summary in another post.

 By: Hororgasm : July 31st, 2017-20:44
but I say the GTR gives the most overall satisfaction. true exotic car slayer and fantastic point and shoot car. with a dose of practicality - big boot and seats 4. best, Horo

The practical choice!

 By: sham1 : August 1st, 2017-00:32
The GTR is arguably your fastest car, takes the most number of passengers, packs the most luggage and probably has one of the lowest maintenance costs

Great shots!

Especially love the Murcielago; last of the clean looking Lambos IMO. Hard pressed to tell they're not taken with a DSLR! I do have to say CSH's coffee are a tad overrated though Cheers Masayuki

CSH started in late 00s, and are the early Indie coffee scene, very much aligned to my path to Indie watch collecting

 By: Hororgasm : July 31st, 2017-23:16
i remember the early days when they were operating out of the mom's shop backyard and they didnt have a retail license, which is why they didnt charge for their coffee, which was "sold" as sample and you leave a gratuity or tip. and from then on, the scen...

Wow!

Thanks for the insight on the Indie coffee scene; wasn't aware of CSH's role in popularizing it. Guess I was also too young back then to appreciate coffee! So you're pretty close to the CSH owners? Cool, which cafe is it? Would love to give your beans a s...

very impressive collection of cars, esp in sg. you are def a VVIP for the tax authorities there

In Singapore, we are a meritocracy....

 By: Hororgasm : July 31st, 2017-06:29
There are no VIPs!!! All citizens are equal in the eyes of the law and public, and consequently the tax authorities.😄 Best, Horo

I know, Im a Sporean myself

I especially like the Mustang and F430 pics, the architectural coupling works particularly well in those . Never been to Singapore myself so love to see images like yours. Cheers, Filip

come by, Singapore is a country between two world....of modernity and tradition

 By: Hororgasm : August 2nd, 2017-04:29

I miss living in Singapore...

 By: willski : July 31st, 2017-11:00
I always look forward to going back though! Very nice cars to go with the watches (or maybe the other way round?)

were you based here?

 By: Hororgasm : August 1st, 2017-01:38
cars and watches are both complimentary and competitive....a nice car and watch combo is what most guys want, at the same time, to afford both may means sacrificing one for the other, especially here in Singapore where a Toyota Corolla cost USD80k. cheers...

Hi Horo,

Jeez, I couldn't afford the parking of four cars...

 By: patrick_y : August 6th, 2017-01:17
Singapore is an expensive place for cars; cars themselves, parking, and number plates are costly and cumbersome. You must be a car nut! Here in San Francisco, to park four cars, you'd probably be on a waiting list in a garage for a few years to get that m...
