The DS was my favorite car when I was a kid – I still remember those Louis de Funès movies where it always made a grand entrance (or a hilarious exit). 
I think it’s great when a brand dares to break new ground in design. Sure, it’s subjective – some will love it, others might run for cover. Personally, I also find the new Jaguar concept 00 EV car quite exciting. 
Maybe I just have a soft spot for design rebels.

The French design language is completely gone. New cars just look hyper aggressive, even more than German cars and that says something! Dirk

From an occidental perspective, I may agree
But I think all manufacturers are now taking a bet on Asia and there, maybe this kind of design is a message of luxury. Look how the BMW rings have gone from extreme horizontal to vertical patterns giving huge vertical grill face.
It’s better inside but where do the pen, keys, cough drop & other stuff go?

A huge coupe meant as a marketing device for Fulda Tires (a Goodyear brand). The proportions are off in real life 😊🤷🏻♂️

Used to be the marketing slogan (black, wide, strong). Fulda used a custom made Maybach for tire testing prior to WW2, hence the connection 👍🏻
