Hmmm, my info is slightly different...
The H.J. Mulliner design number 7443 and derivatives was used for all three series of the S-Type Continental and the Silver Cloud under the name of "Flying Spur".
There is even a James Young design, nr. SVC100 which is rather similar, which is sometimes referred to as "Flying Spur".
H.J. Mulliner and Mulliner Park Ward even built a four door convertible version of what can clearly be recognised as a Flying Spur on RR SCII chassis.
The Johnston link I was not aware of.
Update, just had a browse. Found the Johnston anecdote.
Here's a list of all Flying Spur designs taken from www.rrec.co.uk uk.

Brava, i agree with you about the GT and perhaps the new Brooklands, but not the Flying Spur or Arnage. they are proper 4 door saloons, the flying spur is fast and handles, but doesnt pretend to be a sports car. i dont know any pro footballers personally ...

Graham, A bit of trivia on the Flying Spur. Strictly speaking was not a Bentley/RR name, coachbuilder HJ Mulliner first applied it to the 4 door version of the S3 Continental (which was based on the Silver Cloud 3). It was actually a tribute to Claude Joh...
