One more line struck of the ‘to do’ list. On to the next... She sits pretty now! Will still need finer adjustments after about 2 weeks of driving and letting the dampers to settle in. ...

Can't go wrong with Ohlins

Did you go for the road & track kit?

Yes, I got the road/track set.

 By: KamalRostov : October 31st, 2020-00:41
It’s now set to 50/50 while waiting for the dampers to settle. I’d perhaps go for a 25/75 biased for a harder setup.

Thank you Nico 🙏🏻

A tad soft and feels some roll around corners. Will need to fine tune it in a couple of weeks.

A bit soft for my liking if

compared to the previous setup. Yes, I will check on that too. Thank you for reminding me 😬

I’ve been doing some reading on this too...

Loads of calculations are involved, however with today’s computing technology, it takes care of that. Nonetheless, it is the fine tuning of the mechanical parts that will require one’s expertise and experience.

The possible combination is limitless!

Basically, I’m currently running spacers 15mm fronts and 10mm rears on staggered wheels. Thus I will take that into account when I calculate wheel PCD/ET etc. and when doing alignment, caster/camber geometry calculations. As I’m a greenhorn at this, I’m r...

Thank you 🙏🏻

Is it a M3 CS?

Thank you

 By: KamalRostov : October 31st, 2020-03:22
It’s just a standard M3, although I’d love to have the CSL.

Thanks correcting.... i was thinking of the CSL....

 By: @lberti : October 31st, 2020-05:26
The "standard" m3 would be more than fine for me 😎

She’s a beast indeed and requires respect when behind the wheels...

In fact, I enrolled for the BMW advanced driving course when I got her. You see, I was driving the E46 Ci before. With the M3, driving characteristics was a different ball game altogether.

If ever you’re in my neck of the woods, we could always have a weekend tracking her Nico 😃

It looks great

Öhlins was a Swedish company from the start, it has been sold back and forth during the years since 1976 when Kenth Öhlin started the company. Today, Tenneco owns most of the company. Öhlins is among the best when it comes to vehicle suspension. Do not fo...

Thank you Jocke 🙏🏻

Yes, I’ll remember to get that done.

Very nice. Ohlins are great coilovers, and excellent value.

The E46 M3 is the best looking M-car ever. Cheers, John

Thank you John 🙏🏻

I must say that the design is quite ‘evergreen’ compared to her other siblings. And having a straight six naturally aspirated engine, I’ll be keeping her for some years

Ohlins DFV

Congrats ! This is a total bonkers setup ! E46 M3 with Ohlins suspension, what more does a man need ? The good thing about these Ohlins is the price/quality, they don't come cheap at all but if you want even 'better' your wallet will really bleed. Am i je...

Thank you Filip 🙏🏻

After 14 years, she needs some tlc. On the to do list will be engine and gearbox mounts refresh, all bushings replacement for the front and rear subframe and also the rear differential rebuild. Phew 😅 Loads of work but I know she’ll be worth every drop of...

Differential

 By: bimbeano : November 1st, 2020-01:46
There are a lot of special aftermarket bushings that can give your car a more direct feel while being not only track focused. I suppose this car has an LSD as standard, are you going to refresh or replace it ? The advantage of an LSD is simply amazing, ev...

Sorry to her about your 120d Filip 😔

 By: KamalRostov : November 1st, 2020-16:44
The 120d must be torquey I imagine and nippy round bends too. I’ve been on track with the Clios on several occasions, with some heavily converted. Pocket rockets they are!!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 As for the differential, I would most likely just refurbish it. There are ...

had 400 Nm of torque. My new Megane RS (the 1.8 280 hp) has 390 Nm, but it put all off that to the front wheels. You can imagine i have to change the front tyres every 10 to 20,000 km, while not even going fast. The car weighs 1460 kilos, FWD and 355 mm B...

Owh dear!!! 😱😱😱

That looks bad! 😥😥😥 When was this? By the photos, I presume a wet weather condition when that happened? I hope you were not badly hurt Filip 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 The 1M is a sweet ride! Test drove it once, handles like a go kart!!! That limited colour run, the Valencia...

Alpine performance

 By: bimbeano : November 3rd, 2020-03:37
A110 goes to 100 kph in 4,5 sec, you sit low to the ground, in a very light car ... so it feels even quicker. AND ... don't compare it to a Lotus or a Cayman, it's waay more comfy and sturdy than a Lotus and not as 'wiggly' like a Cayman/Boxster (unless i...

I’ve not seen any of the Alpine on the roads here... and

don’t even know if any are being brought in. Unfortunate 😔 Then again, there’s always the grey importers but servicing and parts would be a challenge. Would love to test drive one... Ouch!!! I can’t imagine how that would hurt!!! From the photos and seein...

The servicing shouldn’t pose any problems, but sourcing bigger parts like a clutch would indeed be a challenge. But if you try this car you will fall in love 😆 Yes it hurt ... quite alot .... but i still managed to take a selfie in the ambulance and a few...

I remember taking a selfie in the ambulance with the neckbrace 😂😂. Actually i remember EVERYTHING of that day exceptionnally well and clear. Medics asked me several times if i had been unconscious. The light never went out, i even remember my own breath-s...
