Awesome! Displacement? - John

 By: John-E-Mac : February 4th, 2021-20:43
Also, any competition history? Any famous names involved?

I will the specs. But you will notice he had the heads drilled to accommodate two plugs per cylinder.

 By: Bill : February 4th, 2021-20:54
He is crazy builder. Did the same on his Harley two plugs per cylinder better than one. He was an old school bike racer.

So you've finally come over . . .

 By: Dr No : February 4th, 2021-20:55
. . . to the Dark Side! Aluminum 426 Hemi, dual plugs and distributors . . . somebody's going racing.

Not for me we just finished alistair engine.

 By: Bill : February 4th, 2021-21:01
406 which will be should be good to 7500+ Rpm and som serious HP. Check out w is in Ted Toki ‘s mouth yup cigar he is the king of cool in engine building old school no fu... given. rpm on the street. ...

I wonder if he remembers . . .

 By: Dr No : February 4th, 2021-21:29
. . . Dick Landy. My foggy memory says Landy was a Dodge sponsored racer back in the good ol' days. And while dual plug hemi heads were around then, they were strictly for drag racing. To get them working on a street motor takes some savvy. ...

. . . and my idol, Bill Bagshaw . . .

 By: Dr No : February 5th, 2021-07:14
. . . the Redlight Bandit.

I don't recall him?

 By: NautNut : February 5th, 2021-07:47

I'll reply with pics and video a little later in the day when I'm back home . . .

 By: Dr No : February 5th, 2021-08:54
. . . but basically, he was drag racing's counterpart to Mark Donohue - a talented driver and an exceptional engineer and builder.

Bill Bagshaw was known for his consummate . . .

 By: Dr No : February 5th, 2021-12:59
. . . preparation and engineering savvy. Notice the 'Allread HEMI' script on the scoop? That was Joe Allread, Bill's engine builder and one of the all-time great Mopar specialists. Art PS - can't find any video of Bill burning rubber. ...

He was not only a So Cal native, he graduated from USC . . .

 By: Dr No : February 5th, 2021-14:57
. . . with a degree in mechanical engineering. He competed nationally, though. The tragic event that induced his early retirement was a race at an AHRA meet in St Louis, 1974. The rear end of his Dodge Dart broke off and a loose axle flew into the stands,...

That is tragic

 By: NautNut : February 6th, 2021-09:54

Bagshaw was so affected he quit competing. And that may be why . . .

 By: Dr No : February 6th, 2021-14:12
. . . you don't remember him - his abruptly shortened career lasted only seven years. I think he won only a few major events, but he was admired as much for his immaculately prepared cars as he was for his racing skills.

Most guys liked '57s best. A few preferred '55s. Me? Always been . . .

 By: Dr No : February 6th, 2021-15:36
. . . a '56-er. That applies to Fords, too. ;-) ...

Pomona speedway !

 By: doubleup : February 9th, 2021-15:44

Bagshaw won at Pomona? Would that have been . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2021-18:37
. . . The Winternationals? What year?

I found an online article with info on Bagshaw . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2021-18:57
. . . and boy, was I ever off! First, he continued racing after the tragic incident in St Louis the following year, but for a year only. Second, he won a lot of races during his stint as a pro between '66 and '76, including the mythical Last Race at Lyons...

Found video of Ronnie Sox . . .

Artisan !

That’s what i call these guys. A couple of months ago i was at the local Ferrari dealer and they showed me a 512 BB V12(180degrees) with 6 double carburettors (correct me if i’m wrong) waiting to be adjusted .... by a guy coming in from Holland ... probab...

This is 406 Sbc.

 By: Bill : February 5th, 2021-11:27
Performance cams typically have durations ranging from 220 up to 280 degrees or more. The longer the duration, the rougher the idle and the higher the cam’s power range on the rpm scale. A cam with a duration of 240 degrees of higher will typically produc...

Are we talking 500 ish hp ?

 By: bimbeano : February 5th, 2021-12:28
Or am i too optimistic ?

My builder doesn't believe in dyno power readings.

 By: Bill : February 5th, 2021-12:49
Just how hard she pulls on the road. These days you have guys claiming 700-1000 hp but when it is wheels on the ground they don't pull so hard. But yes your calculation is correct. HAGWE

All about the driving experience ...

 By: bimbeano : February 5th, 2021-15:53
.. and a well tuned engine is a big part of that, whether you have 150 or 1000 hp. I find dyno readings interesting to compare, not just peak power, but especially what’s happening at any revs. And i do believe those 700-1000 hp figures .... but when you ...

Did you consider building the engine . . .

 By: Dr No : February 5th, 2021-12:48
. . . around E85? There's a few stations that carry the stuff around here, and they're popping up in OC, too. My hunch is it would run more effectively on E85 with the cam and compression you're running.

It'll take a special carb . . .

 By: Dr No : February 5th, 2021-13:02
. . . and a few other adjustments, not to mention a non-reactive fuel tank, lines, and pump. But the other upside to 100+ octane E85 is that it runs about 15º F cooler than gas, so engines last longer, tolerances can be tighter, and you can even run moder...

Sweet ! ...

This . . .

 By: Dr No : February 5th, 2021-14:02
. . . I've gotta see. When it's completed, of course. Don't worry, I won't ask for a ride in it - I'd be scared witless!

 By: Cpt Scarlet : February 5th, 2021-14:25

Can you share some more photos ?

 By: Cpt Scarlet : February 5th, 2021-14:25

A beast

 By: NautNut : February 5th, 2021-06:51

that is one serious setup

 By: jerry6 : February 20th, 2021-13:31
all i can say is that is going to produce some serious power can't wait to see what you put that into

you are killing me

 By: jerry6 : February 22nd, 2021-08:04
with that insane hemi and a charger ! are you going to run NA or are you going to add nitrous or some other power adder , not that you'll need it , you will probably be making over 800hp as it is

why don't you post ome pics of this setup at moparts

 By: jerry6 : February 23rd, 2021-13:30
I'm sure people there will really like this setup , might even have some useful info for you
