Car Show in the neighborhood, Part 2 Studebaker

We walked across the lawns of the park next to San Diego bay, and as is often the case at shows, found more interesting vehicles in the parking lot:

Notice the subtle hood scoop and front/side exit exhausts!

I didn't look too closely at this, but it "smelled like" a kit car

Finally we found the Studebaker/Packard displays

Supercharged Dayton / Paxton blower

This is called a Conestoga Wagon (hood louvres not original)

This wagon is the Packard variant on a Studebaker design. Notice the extremely low-budget way that the double front headlights have been added - using bolt-on pods.

The extra height of the fins is also tacked onto the Studebaker fins (notice the Studie wagon in the background of this Packard photo)

The Classic Avanti by Raymond Loewy

"Peggy Sue" is the REAL name of the lady who drives this well-accessorized car... she's wearing the blue hat in the photo above ... actually there are 2 ladies with blue hats and now I forget which is which

Non-stock highlights!

More recent Avantis were not as nice as the originals - in styling or detailing

This one gave ne the kit kar kreeps. It's from an era best forgotten.

A very old guy had a sign on this old car which said "it mostly still works" (he could have probably worn the sign around his neck too). Notice this vehicle has wooden wheels!

The end of the Studebaker/Packard Section.

We saw this on the way out - a 280 Limo

I'd take this if it were offered...

Cheers & thanks for reading
