BMW ceases production of the i8

The i8 was BMW’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle.
BMW is ending production of the i8 sports car, six years after its introduction.

The production version of the i8 was unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt auto show and it went on sale in 2014. BMW freshened the i8 coupe and introduced a roadster version in 2018.

Hopefully it can be like discontinued SS Rolex and Patek, Lol However, I think for used prices in the $50-60k range, it looks really good. The car still looks great and got praises everywhere it goes. It’s futuristic design will stood the test of time.

About 20000 units...

It’s a car I would really like to drive but probably not want to own. I looked at maybe leasing, but it was 10x as much/month as my Fiat 500e, which was plenty of fun. The BMW though is dramatic in such a futuristic way! Sadly they only sold about 100/mon...

IMHO NSX is much more special than i8. better in many ways. Even the new NSX could not replace the charisma of original NSX.
