I really like BMWs. They don't have double wishbone suspension and this era of BMWs didn't even have fixed brake calipers. But the suspension tuning was just done so good, it's the perfect balance of sportiness and luxurious comfort. I had a V8 5 series BMW designed by Chris Bangle that I miss so much. What a smooth and linear powertrain, superb driving dynamics, fantastic brakes (still the only car I've owned with sliding brake calipers, and I have to say they were really good), excellent suspension damping/tuning, and very quiet. BMW knows how to make a luxuriously comfortable car with humble ingredients (no double wishbone, no fixed calipers, simple ingredients). The Mercedes vehicles I've owned were noisier, coarser, and less refined in some ways and had more body lean despite a firmer suspension overall.
