For me the left one on the second photo, 5,3 XJ COUPE, may be the most beautiful Coupe from the last 50 years.

Walking up to the front you see the V badge on the grille. Notice those tiny air intakes around the outer headlight - I wonder what they are for? Slightly aggressive stance Walk around to driver's side (ignore that window rubber) Let me open the door for ...

This with the rust is true, but it looks nicer with Vinyl, because it is this fake cabriolet style. From the estetic point, i think the vinyl looks very good.

In the case of restauration, and they all need one after so many years, it should be a frame off restauration and than a new vinyl roof. It is expensive and not so many can do this perfect.
