There were four cars I considered in my dreams when I was a child. The Volvo P 1800, the Porsche 911, the Ferrari Dino 246 and the... VW Karmann Ghia.
This is a very nice one I saw last week-end:

Nice! My first car was a '63 KG coupe that I bought for $100 with a seized engine, only one seat, and needing to be completely restored.
I bought it because I couldn't afford the 356 I really wanted and so I convinced myself this was close enough. I rebuilt the engine with guidance from my father then spent the next year getting everything done, including painting it myself in the driveway...
and you realised your dream at least partially...
