2020 C8 Corvette Photos from Dealer Preview Day

Jul 20, 2019,09:32 AM

Hello Gentlemen,

I'd like to share some photos of the new Corvette.  While it has been said that "All Corvettes are Red" that's not strictly true - here's a White one with Lipstick Red interior to start

Seriously Red Leather inside revealing the completely-new, wrap-around cockpit design

This might look pretty nice in my driveway next to the new white Volt ...

To transition from White to Red, Chevrolet thoughtfully provided a half-dozen Red C8 Cutaways. The car is still based on alloy chassis structure and composite skin. You can see the rear-engine-transaxle package.

The chassis structure is a combination of 6 large castings combined with welded, riveted and bonded alloy panels.

The reveal event was held in one of the remaining large military hangars in Orange County. Plenty of room, and adjacent to the majority of mid-engined sports cars in America. Think Newport Beach, Irvine, Laguna, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, etc.

These photos were taken on dealer day, and have been genmerously provided to us by Timothy Connell, owner of Connell Chevrolet in Costa Mesa (where I bought my Volt).

Here's an image of a mockup interior (notice the map of the Nurburgring on the Navigation Screen). Don't mind the fit and finish on this styling mockup as it's not inside a car, and was a concept model.

Climate controls on the edge of the wrap-around structure. Glove box aimed at the pilot. Controls for the 8-sp dual clutch trans are visible plus there are shift paddles behind wheel too.

Sorry, the passenger gets nothing except cool air through sleek, narrow vents

Top-down view of entire interior

You have a choice of 3 seat configurations

Taking a cue from the elaborate option palettes offered by the competition, GM has stepped up to the plate on the new Corvette, with 12 exterior colors and 6 wheel choices!

Here are the 6 seat belt choices:

Eight interior leather trim choices

Brake caliper paint options

Steering wheels

Now moving to a bronze car, here's a look around

For someone used to looking at the front-engine Corvette, this angle will be a shock!

There is a trunk in the way-back large enough to carry golf clubs (which can serve as additional cushion in the event you are rear-ended...

It has a substantial trunk in the front too, large enough for an aircraft rolling carry-on bag.

The tan interior carpets were not the optimum choice for dozens of dealers and wives who had been shuffling around on the tarmac prior to hopping in the car. But the look is great in my opinion.

Thanks for taking a look. What strikes you about this new car?

Very good looking car...

...love the red interior. The performance/$ value is hard to beat if the numbers being talked about hold up. If they ever make a hybrid version it will scare everyone including Ferrari.

Ferrari won’t be losing the least bit of sleep.

That’s akin to saying Patek will be running scared if Grand Seiko makes a World Timer.

I get it that they won’t care dollar wise...

...as nobody cross-shops the two. But they might have some hurt pride.

I think this will move the needle 😬, great looking car. I will be looking forward for a test drive. Nice 👍🏻

Our friend, Ed-209?, will love this....if he’s looking.

I have an appointment in 10 days to see, sit in, and choose my 2020 Corvette if I am still stoked!

The dealer says they are planning two shifts in Kentucky, and his allocation for the first year is 90 cars! Much better than the C7 launch when he got less than 30. That sounds good to me! Except we might be spoilt for choice with Arctic White, Black, Bla...

Exciting news - congratulations!

I've been a fan of Corvette racing since my high school days when Johnny O'Connell kindly spoke with me, took a few photos, and signed my race program at Petit Le Mans 2001. For your Corvette, the classic "launch model" color combination would be Arctic W...

You guessed it

This was my first choice - White / Red / Stripe ...

What strikes me?

The shape is fine, but whomever the **** signed off on production of those doors needs fired! As much as I’d hoped the centre control switches wouldn’t be dire and just take a bit of getting used to… nope, it is absolutely dire. Should’ve spent a lot more...

Having done a 1000-km journey in the first day of taking possession of a Macan

I can’t say that Porsche ergonomics are any better than this. They managed to put two rows of exactly identical switches down either side of the central console where they are both invisible and indecipherable. Opinions may vary but I stand by the advice ...

Maybe one day in the Macan didn't quite equal "three sips".

My first impression with my new Macan GTS was. wow... lots of buttons! But with enough time I've learned (mostly) which button does what. Part of the reason for so many buttons is the car has no mouse and that's something I find very desirable. I like the...

Thank You for posting these pictures....

I am really impressed and its good to see the continuation of the Corvette legend with a fresh new take and variety is the spice of life, the more the better. Hope to get to drive one soon. S

Thanks for your posts. I have never owned a sports car.

The current generation Vette is highly attractive to me. I imagine it will be available at better prices with the new one on the horizon. This new model is surely a big evolution for the brand.

Yes - the C7 Corvette is being aggressively priced by dealers

I have already seen 10-17% off list price on some cars in dealer ads. Of course there are many model variations on the current car, so its prIce can be as high as $140k or low as $60k. Here’s a high level ZR1 ...
