You really can't go wrong with Pirelli's or Michelin..

Jan 19, 2021,15:34 PM

Although personally I prefer Michelin over Pirellis. It seemed as if Porsche was phasing out the manuals but the manual 991.2 GT3's were so popular I believe Porsche decided to keep collecting on that golden goose.  I owned a manual as a teenager and young adult but I don't miss it.  I prefer enjoying my drive and romping on it when I want and using the paddle shifters or gear shifter in manual mode when I want to as opposed to having to.  I appreciate a good manual but you can't outrace technology and the PDK is so seamless that you don't feel it.  I like to sometimes have a coffee in my hand when I'm driving and you can't do that with a manual. For each their own, my dad has a 996 GT2 that is manual that he wouldn't trade for the world.

911 used as intended. I hope I make my German purist friends proud.

I decided to no longer store the car for 6 months during the New England winter. I am not getting any younger. I want to live every day to the fullest. Happy New Year to you all Constantine ...

Well done, my friend.

It’s even easier with a 4WD 911 model. Best, V.

You got that right Volker.

I am starting to look at 991.2 turbos. A Perfect New England winter car. Good eye my friend. It’s a 2013 C2S with all the performance stuff in it. PSE ,sport Chrono, sport wheel, PDCC etc. I also added lots of carbon bits to the interior courtesy of DB Ca...

911s are AWD..

 By: jp884 : January 16th, 2021-20:06
When they are not rear wheel drive. Common mistake to clump AWD with 4WD but they are different and you definitely feel it in treacherous conditions. I use my 911 TTS in the winter months here in the PNW but when I head up to the mountain home. I use my T...

Thank you and thanks for the clarification awd vs 4wd

I have the Pirelli SottoZeros 19 inch on all 4 wheels. (245 front 275 rear.)Do you think these are good winter tires? They seem to perform well. I was looking at the Michelin Alpin Winter tires but could not find a set. I will likely either upgrade or add...

I agree at the PDK seamless And smooth between the gears.

By: Costa (aka Connie) : January 19th, 2021-19:41
Sometimes I do get sick of shifting gears. I have only had manual Porsches. I will try PDK on my next 911. And I guess if I want to try the turbo charged 911 It will have to be PDK. I’ve been told they do not make 911 turbos in manual at all. That is quit...

The only correct decision!

Amazing car

Thanks very much. It’s a blast to drive.

A man after my own heart! I drove my GTI up to Okemo this week, and enjoyed myself thoroughly. As much as I like this sporty and comfortable car of mine all the time, there's something *especially* joyful about zipping along mountain roads in it, skis str...

No. It's a rear wheel drive Nicolas.

By: Costa (aka Connie) : January 16th, 2021-12:08
You are right. Need 4 wheel drive but not yet. I choose my days. I make sure there are no big storms coming. 911 is great and snow. The only problem is clearance. If the car gets lifted up by deep snow then you are stuck.

Thanks Nicolas.

Meant to be driven all year round --

I have had p-cars for over 25 years and I have always said that since Germany has plenty of snow, they design the cars to perform in the weather they get!

As it's meant to be! Funny, I've always thought of 911's as the perfect all season sports car because of Porsches early adoption of galvanized/treated steel for rust prevention

 By: Fastwong : January 16th, 2021-18:10
Part of why do older 911s are such great classic cars is because similar vintage cars from other mnfrs like BMW used to rust into swiss cheese. It's a shame now most modern 911s get babied in the winter, great to see yours in the snow! Also, 911s look gre...

Yea you are right. The car panels are rust proof.

By: Costa (aka Connie) : January 16th, 2021-19:18
The exhaust is stainless steel I think. I wash it a lot in the winter to keep the salt off it and don’t take it out if the roads are sloppy with slush. The rear engine is great in the snow with rear wheel drive. But you still have to be careful.

Looks like tons of fun

Both on the road and on the slopes! Sadly I haven't been able to go skiing this season.

The right and wise decision...

The Mercedes SL series has always been a car I have enjoyed seeing. Never driven one but looks like a lot of fun.

Lust for life

You are right! Enjoy fully, do not park your 911 for a year to protect it against elements. When posting this, i think i do not bought a Porsche. I think i go to do it. Why not? ...

That's 100% correct.

By: Costa (aka Connie) : January 17th, 2021-07:20
You buy a Porsche to drive it not to look at it under a cover fir 6 months. Actually I think these cars stay in better working order when driven frequently. No matter if it’s sunny or snowy. Drive it!! Nice taxi cab. We don’t have cabs like that in the US...

Fantastic Taxi

This was the evidence for me Porsche is real good. After flying over the track i said to the Taxi driver that i want a Porsche. The technologic superiority is far beyond. The seats are great, dash is awesome. PDK is a must. But i do not had a ride in a Fe...
