Oh man, sorry to hear that! If I had to guess, cracked/leaking radiator

I feel like BMW has had issues with the plastic radiator connectors forever and 60k miles sounds about right for a new one..... It sucks but at least it's an easy replacement and good for another 50-60k miles.

Thank you for the kind words Sire... I am hoping it’s a cheap fix... Some say it can be

A busted head gasket.. I hope not 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I wouldn't stress. Head gasket really unlikely, that would have shown other issues.

Probably the plastic rad or as mentioned below plastic water pump. So long as you stopped driving once you saw the temps get warm engine should be fine. Unless you want to tell your wife you"need" a new car. Then definitely head gasket 😂

Hahaha, per your last comment about a new car, I do want one....

But, my wife, and I love her for it, says she rather me buy a watch than a car cause of depreciation of most cars in general.. But yeah, I am thinking something minor also... Ted

I had an M Series BMW and the overflow tank or something in the radiator or a part of that was made of plastic when it should have been metal I was told.

The car situation happens to the best of us! Be well!!!

Cooling system was a common weak point for BMW cars for years.

Certainly better on newer cars, and 57K miles is very early, but my guess is a water pump failure (could be a temp sensor too, but they are designed to fail open and therefore lead to overcooling instead of undercooling). This usually doesn't happen until...

Thank you for you insight John! My good Sire...

Yes, I hope it’s not too expensive a fix. I really love driving this car, enough power, but not too much power, can drift if you want to. I had the limited slip differential installed to help with drifting when I bought it😁😁😁😁

+1. Most likely cooling system.

Your M235i has an electronic water pump if I recall correctly. If the pump fails, there's no warning light until the engine reaches a critical temperature. A warning light would come on only if the thermostat is working correctly. On a BMW 545i I used to ...

I had my 335 overheat 2 months ago and it was the electric water pump!!

BMW apparently installs electric water pump to gain/save few HP, strange idea and not worth it. Hopefully it will only be a small and cheap problem to solve. Cheers, Francois

you owned a Honda? Acura the same, any better there isn’t. But i have the same problem as you, staring blind on an emblem of a German car maker. In my case i adore Porsche, but i know also the technical failures Porsches have. So, when i go for my first P...

My Mrs. drives a 335ix Coupe. DO NOT PAY to have this fixed.

If I recall correctly, if you are in the USA, there is a class action suit about the electric water pump failures. I have a letter about this somewhere from the lead litigator. Check around. All the best... HEO.

Busted water pump would be my guess..

I know, but this is sad to say, I am used to it, 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ my other 3 series had run flats and went through over 20 tires

In 3 years!!!! Blame it on Philly roads, iono🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ I had the tire plan which cost me nothing to replace, thankfully
