No special tricks for me, I really just use it like a perfectly designed tool...

It does exactly what I need it to do without thinking much about it. It's comfortable, relaxing, nimble, efficient, and just plain works

 By: patrick_y : August 1st, 2018-02:02
Patrick_y shares his very favorable thoughts on the new Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD and Performance AWD with Performance Upgrade Package on PuristSPro. Tesla Model 3 Long Range in optional Silver Metallic with standard 18 Inch Aero Wheel Living in San Fr...

Thank you!

What is Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin going to do? Porsche is already starting to make electric cars with its Taycan. I'm still a petrolhead, but I understand, pragmatically, dinosaur fuel powered vehicles are going to go away eventually. Electri...

Green with envy

Sgp do not have official tesla distribution. Sigh... Cheers PAt

They need to get on it!

I should go to Tesla and tell them to put me on the task of getting SGP online with Tesla. I wonder what the hold up is...

Great review thanks for sharing it [nt]

Thank you for reading! It's a long one!

 By: patrick_y : August 1st, 2018-10:26
It's a long read. 2200 words! It's missing a lot of the basic information that you'll see in magazines. I was trying to achieve a review that would tell the reader information that other magazines haven't mentioned. Since many of those whom are interested...

it s a good one mate

actually i was on the preorder (EU) but rather cancelled until they are get on track .

I'm on the pre-order list too...

But I'm undetermined on what I want to do. California gives out stickers for electric cars to use special "Carpool" lanes that supposedly have less traffic. This is to incentivize you to carpool or to buy an electric car. These stickers now expire every 3...

Waiting for the earnings report today :-)

Might be interesting.

Me too. I'm a little nervous!

Tesla has a huge backlog of vehicles to deliver. They produced many more vehicles than they sold in June because they wanted to make sure that they hit the 200,000 US Sales number in July, not in June. So I imagine they held back on delivering vehicles to...

In the clear :-)

Portfolio returns are looking nice!

Yes!

Finally got some good news!

Nice review Patrick, thank you

As you know I have had electric cars, hybrids, good old internal combustion motors, and I've driven the Mirai and Clarion hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. I haven't been in a model 3 although I've driven the S, the X and the roadster. The 3s are popping up ev...

My recommendation...

 By: patrick_y : August 1st, 2018-10:22
Don't order the Model 3 just yet. You have way too many cars! I would only order the Model 3 if I decided I wanted to drive tremendous mileage within my local jurisdiction (since the range is limited, you can't drive it outside). The main reason why I wou...

The Roadster is so you...

 By: patrick_y : August 1st, 2018-10:23
I know you like Lotus vehicles, and that Roadster is practically a Lotus!

Go and try one!

 By: patrick_y : August 1st, 2018-11:44
Go and try one! You'll definitely be convinced to go electric in the future! How many cars can do a 3.5 seconds 0-60 time and cost only $64K? 1. In the long run, it should be more reliable. Electric cars have much fewer moving parts. 2. The cars drive wel...

I'm already convinced...I just rarely drive!

 By: brandon1 : August 1st, 2018-14:35
I test drove a Model S and a Model X and really enjoyed both...I'm sure the 3 is even more appealing given the compact size and interior design. My wife and I commute by water taxi and so our existing car (a VW) spends most of its life in our underground ...

Can you get charging at your flat?

 By: patrick_y : August 1st, 2018-17:06
A lot of the communal garages don't have charging. And it'd be expensive to put in chargers. Is this a possibility for you?

You’re right about mileage making a decent deal happen

 By: cazalea : August 1st, 2018-22:22
We can only get to LA and back on one charge. Everywhere else we’d have to recharge on the road which costs more than at home. Except for the Supercharger network which is .26 / kWh in Calif. Our time-of-day metering plan at home is .28 / kWh at night and...

Holy, that's expensive electricity...

 By: patrick_y : August 1st, 2018-22:37
San Diego night electricity is $0.28 per kWh? You sure? There should be a special rate for Electric cars to bring that down. Here in the SF Bay Area, assuming you use PG&E Utility Co. the rates are around $0.13 from 11PM to 7AM. Your rate is double! You'd...

Your electric rates are sometimes double that of the Electric Rates in San Francisco!

 By: patrick_y : August 1st, 2018-22:55
Peak is 2PM to 9PM (M to F); 3PM to 7PM on weekends and holidays, and is $0.47/kwh Partial Peak is 7AM to 2PM and 9PM to 11PM and is $0.26/kwh Off Peak is 11Pm to 7AM (M to F); 7PM to 3PM on weekends and holidays and is $0.13/kwh

Sad, isn’t it?

 By: cazalea : August 2nd, 2018-09:33
And these are the discount EV rates! ...

Thanks for the in-depth Model 3 review!

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 1st, 2018-14:17
The only qualm I have of the Model 3 Performance model is the price tag because for just a little more, you can get yourself a Model S 75D. And cause of this, I don't think Tesla will sell many of these Performance Model 3's. Who knows. Maybe I'm wrong an...

They will make money...

 By: patrick_y : August 1st, 2018-17:27
Tesla should make a margin off the base model. A smaller margin, but they should make money. The problem is that they include all the hardware even with the base model. So all the cars cost about the same to build (Premium package costs a bit more, extra ...

I've had my Model 3 since early January and I LOVE IT!!

 By: SteveH : August 1st, 2018-14:51
Mine is obviously LR RWD as that was the only one available for early deliveries. I am not a car snob -- have had many more expensive and many less expensive cars. For my needs, this is honestly my favorite car I have ever owned. The size is perfect in th...

Coming from a guy who has owned very nice cars...

How can you say you're not a car person when you had a "Breitling logo" car? Thanks for sharing SteveH! Anything else we should know about the car? Is there any special tricks you've learned? I was told by another person he keeps the rear view monitor on ...

No special tricks for me, I really just use it like a perfectly designed tool...

Glad to hear it "plain works"

Reliability is always an issue on cars and it's good to know that there haven't been any major issues so far!
