Not seen one of these before. Looks a little small for an American car from that period. And a little pimped out maybe? Or did they come like that? ...

It's a Gremlin, Walter - and the upscale version, at that! . . .

. . . this was AMC's answer to Chevy's Vega and Ford's Pinto in '71. Its saving grace was having a six cylinder engine compared to Chevy and Ford's four. Carl's example (thanks, Carl!) is later production, probably '74 or '75. Art

Thanks Art.

Yep, the 1970s-era AMC Gremlin. The parents of my best friend in high school drove one - theirs was a four cylinder, though. Terrible handling, weird styling and often in the shop. This one is somewhat pimped out.

Ahh, yes AMC... great memories!

For me, AMC always was the "Eagle"

This was really a progressive concept, and if I recall correctly, the first AWD vehicle with everyday comfort. In our ski school in Kaprun (Salzburg/Austria), one of the instructors had one back in the early Eighties. Despite of it corroding away, I admir...

I had a friend in high school who drove a Gremlin. It had a V-8 and he had done some "modifications", it would go down the street on the 2 rear wheels for quite a distance.

AMC Eagle looks like this!
