It never really appealed to me ...

I could not get over the fact that this car was less capable than its close contemporary cousins (the GT3 and the GT3RS) simply in order to have a manual transmission. I get that people love manuals, but I felt Porsche should have designed something from the ground up around a manual to deal with all the grousing coming from people frustrated that the GT3 variants only came with a dual clutch. Rather than retrofit a manual and somewhat diminish the performance of the car.

That of course is a somewhat ridiculously purist take. The bottom line is that the 2016 GT3 / GT3RS / R was one of the greatest cars ever made.
