Interesting ride, fun but flawed in some ways

Feb 28, 2020,09:14 AM

A good friend of mine had on for 3 years, during which time I had the pleasure of putting a hundred or so miles on it. First impression was that it was not a nimble as a bike ( which is good, neither am I anymore), and not as stable as a 4 wheeler. It sits real low to the ground, and handles well, until the back end breaks loose...admittedly this takes work. On twisty back roads you get the wind in the face feel, and exposure to all of the elements, with a go cart like suspension. Perhaps I’m old but I preferred his 1966 Elan on the same curves, it wasn’t any faster by any means, but I felt like I was.

To sum it up, I’m glad I got to drive it, I enjoyed it, but would not want to spend my own money on one.
Just my two cents,
Wojo

This a fascinating vehicle...the Polaris Slingshot!

Not sure how it drives, but I'm sure it is exhillerating. Light weight and nimble for sure, wonder how a three wheeler corners? Anyone have experience in one of these? Cheers, Tim ...

The original

Still, love to hear from anyone who has driven a 3 wheeler, very curious... Cheers and thanks for this reminder, Tim

I’ve driven one ...

The Morgan... great fun up to a certain limit then things can get very scary 😮... The Caterham is a much better handling car if your in a hurry.

Right, 4 wheels v 3 wheels!

We have the right weather here! Cheers, Tim

It's not very dignified (not as much as you are)

I've seen a number of them but never driven one of those. I have driven a Morgan and been terrified to death by a ride in a 2CV-based 3-wheeler called the Lomax. One bad thing you can't dodge speed bumps or potholes because one of the 3 wheels is bound to...

Wow, that looks worryingly dodgy as my Dad would say!

I now see that the Polaris requires a motorcycle helmet, as it’s considered a motorcycle rather than a car! Weird, but I suppose there is some reasoning behind it. Cheers, Tim

Tim, saw one on Sunday - it was a bit scary

He was driving in foggy mist conditions early morning so I couldn’t get a photo Have you ordered yours yet? 🙂

I think not on balance...

I'll stick to 4 wheels for now. Cheers, Tim

More bike than car.

Appreciate the in depth analysis from a driver of one of these things. Cheers, Tim

I think it’s a handfull when you push it.

I tried it last year in the hills of South Carolina, is not fast as it looks but it’s very funny and corners very well, I would definitely buy one for a Sunday drive instead of a bike Cheers F ...
