I had no idea this model even existed or if it was actually called the European version (officially the Type 34 I later learned) of the Karmann Ghia that was popular in the US back then. I went to look at the car one night after dark. When I arrived, the car was already running, parked in a weed-filled field where it had obviously been sitting for years. The seller had the engine lid open with a coffee can filled with gas feeding the carb through a hose. The bottom of the car was so rotted that even the fuel line had deteriorated beyond use. I was actually a bit disappointed that it was in such bad shape sine I really liked the looks. I eventually ended up buying a standard '63 coupe instead. It was the first car I even bought for myself. I still miss it to this day.
