It seems that the days of Pleasure Cars will soon be over... Two factors: 1/ The taxes on fuel cars will increase in a terrible way. For 2021, the tax for a Porsche Cayman, the " basic " model, will be over 20, 000 Euros. And 10 K more next year. To be cl...  

...but I don't think we have them in the U.S. I am personally against governments using heavy taxes to coerce consumer 'choice.' Average people have no choice while rich people don't care.

I have resigned myself to the reality of electric and (EVentually) autonomous vehicles. People scoff but let’s face it...if you can buy a Tesla Plaid for $130,000 that does 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and 200 mph top end it becomes pretty hard to make an argument...  

The feeling is different. The noise, the feeling, a totally different philosophy.

I have a 370Z with aftermarket turbos now but I’m probably similar in watches...no vintage form must follow function (not that I can’t appreciate form...I absolutely do) hence I own new Omegas because I respect the brand ethos (movement, engineering etc) ... 

M next would have been a Cayman or a GTR...but let’s see what happens...75 mph on a Waverunner is pretty exciting too!

My dream car would be a 2015 Aston Martin Vanquish, their grand tourer and the last year of the naturally-aspirated V12. I promised myself that before I pull the trigger, I will test-drive a Tesla for comparison. I think a small part of me will be heart-b...

my take on this is, being fortunate enough to have both petrol and electric cars, I can honestly say both offer pleasure in different ways. Personally I’m very excited about the future of electric cars.

Poor cars! So if I wanted to buy a normal Mercedes C Class 4-cylinder Gasoline car, I'll have to pay around 10,000 Euros additional tax? That's crazy! That means someone who buys a car in December before the tax increase might be able to sell it next year... 

There should be a place for both gasoline engines and electric. I actually have no issues with electric vehicles and think I may get a Porsche Taycan when I decide to get rid of my Panamera 4s. I just don’t like it when government decides to take away you...  

...in areas that will allow them. They will have a track and maybe miles of nice roads to drive around in your 'fun' car. But this will be prohibitively expensive...

very sad. Speed (acceleration) by itself is only part of the equation and I've been in some Supras and Nissan GT-Rs that will make you realize Tesla isn't the only vehicle that can pin you to your seat that hard. I also think racing will suffer eventually... 

For long distances, I prefer traveling more than moving, and I prefer fuel cars... And I prefer traveling with class. Or style, at least. Best, Nicolas

I heard the rumor Renault comes with an electric 5. I do not looked on an automotive site to look at the prototype. update: It looks amazing. A real Renault. The Alpine have a futuristic dashboard.
