a very sad future indeed

There should be a place for both gasoline engines and electric.

I actually have no issues with electric vehicles and think I may get a Porsche Taycan when I decide to get rid of my Panamera 4s. I just don’t like it when government decides to take away your choice by taxing the hell out of something.

The new issue with the Porsche magazine has the 4s  hybrid on its cover.

Alpine A 110: The last of the Mohicans?

 By: amanico : January 14th, 2021-09:14
It seems that the days of Pleasure Cars will soon be over... Two factors: 1/ The taxes on fuel cars will increase in a terrible way. For 2021, the tax for a Porsche Cayman, the " basic " model, will be over 20, 000 Euros. And 10 K more next year. To be cl...

Very beautiful car...

...but I don't think we have them in the U.S. I am personally against governments using heavy taxes to coerce consumer 'choice.' Average people have no choice while rich people don't care.

Agree 💯

Very nice...

I have resigned myself to the reality of electric and (EVentually) autonomous vehicles. People scoff but let’s face it...if you can buy a Tesla Plaid for $130,000 that does 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and 200 mph top end it becomes pretty hard to make an argument...

I prefer electric.

Fast, quiet and smooth.

I use a BMW I3 as a daily , great and fun car but doesn’t come close to my MB C63 😉

Maybe i am old fashioned but i do like the smell of gasoline 🤗

Of course to each his own...

I have a 370Z with aftermarket turbos now but I’m probably similar in watches...no vintage form must follow function (not that I can’t appreciate form...I absolutely do) hence I own new Omegas because I respect the brand ethos (movement, engineering etc) ...

It should get more credit than it does...

M next would have been a Cayman or a GTR...but let’s see what happens...75 mph on a Waverunner is pretty exciting too!

Both great choices!

I've always wanted to own an Aston Martin, for as long as I can remember

 By: NickO : January 14th, 2021-11:36
My dream car would be a 2015 Aston Martin Vanquish, their grand tourer and the last year of the naturally-aspirated V12. I promised myself that before I pull the trigger, I will test-drive a Tesla for comparison. I think a small part of me will be heart-b...

Test it, and we'll see!

I'm afraid that what this song, by the Canadian rock group Rush, describes will come to pass. You may not care for the style of the music, or the vocalist, however the lyrics are the important part. www.youtube.com Me? I will hang on to my V-8 pow...

Choice of pleasure ...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : January 14th, 2021-10:36
my take on this is, being fortunate enough to have both petrol and electric cars, I can honestly say both offer pleasure in different ways. Personally I’m very excited about the future of electric cars.

Maybe not yet for you.

Excellent choice !

France is going to kill the traditional car industry...

 By: patrick_y : January 14th, 2021-11:17
Poor cars! So if I wanted to buy a normal Mercedes C Class 4-cylinder Gasoline car, I'll have to pay around 10,000 Euros additional tax? That's crazy! That means someone who buys a car in December before the tax increase might be able to sell it next year...

;)

I think the very wealthy will join private clubs...

...in areas that will allow them. They will have a track and maybe miles of nice roads to drive around in your 'fun' car. But this will be prohibitively expensive...

Absolutely! Alas.

You need brakes 😱

 By: Cpt Scarlet : January 15th, 2021-02:43

Most important and often overlooked ...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : January 15th, 2021-03:50
reducing un-sprung weight is the the single most effective way of improving your cars handling.

About 6 kilos per corner? That is substantial.

Forged rims and a lightweight big brake kit?

KTR UK ?

...

Beautiful car my friend! Wish we had them here. I'm not anti electirc but I don't think they are going to save the planet either, unfortunately they are going to be rammed down our throats which I find

 By: InDebtButOnTime : January 15th, 2021-07:02
very sad. Speed (acceleration) by itself is only part of the equation and I've been in some Supras and Nissan GT-Rs that will make you realize Tesla isn't the only vehicle that can pin you to your seat that hard. I also think racing will suffer eventually...

I share this point of view. I am not an anti electric car, I want to have the choice, and for me, electric cars are excellent when you have to move to a short / medium distance.

 By: amanico : January 15th, 2021-07:07
For long distances, I prefer traveling more than moving, and I prefer fuel cars... And I prefer traveling with class. Or style, at least. Best, Nicolas

The new Renault 5

 By: Weems@8 : January 15th, 2021-07:34
I heard the rumor Renault comes with an electric 5. I do not looked on an automotive site to look at the prototype. update: It looks amazing. A real Renault. The Alpine have a futuristic dashboard.

better than the Zoe

This is not the first time they changed plans ... or the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth etc 😂. First things first 🤪 ... i just hope i can drive my high revving Clio RS as long as i choose to! I just fear there might come a ban on driving petrol cars ...
