So, what is the story of the bezel?

Nov 08, 2019,05:55 AM

I have only heard vaguely about the bezel not holding up and I have seen many photos where this seems to be the case, but I am never really sure due to the appearance of the carbon fiber. I have been very interested n this model for a while now, and i would appreciate any insights into any issues regarding the bezel. Regarding the ceramic bezel, is that something AP sanctioned? Do folks here feel that it detracts from the original concept of the watch? Thanks for raising this question, Speed freak. I hope you don't mind my chiming in.
All best,
respo

I am not a "car guy" or into racing, but I have always felt this Grand Prix to be the best F1 themed watch.

I prefer others like RB2 and JPM, but I would imagine for an F1 fan, this watch is tops. ...

And mine says hello ...

One for me to admire.

What are people’s thoughts on this watch with the ceramic bezel.

I’ve seen this watch at the AP museum with a ceramic bezel and I thought it looked really good, especially as the original carbon bezel tends to delaminate easily.

So, what is the story of the bezel?

Good reply, Respo. I saw the same piece in the museum, years ago, with a full ceramic bezel.

I was told owners have the option to upgrade, or change, to a ceramic top piece if they own this watch. Not sure what the cost is. It did look great, and naturally eliminates wearing the top carbon piece. Aesthetically, I like both, but preferred the all ...

I’ve got wear a F1 chronograph watch. I’m a car guy and love racing a lot. But i am more a 24 hour of Le Mans lover. Endurance always my favorite, and i like NASCAR. About famous watches. Rolex Daytona Paul Newman. About a nice Ferrari watch. Panerai. Me....

Appreciate your reply, Weems.

Definitely many great auto themed watches over the years. I myself favor the AP RBII. But I think AP created a super authentic watch with the Grand Prix.

Good watch without to much overkill. I like more silent models like an Royal Oak with a cream/white dial and not more than 2 complications, and an open caseback. An there is an AP dress watch who was in a compare on watchfinder

Too big...

for my wrist but it is a beauty Cheers

The protrusion on the left makes it even bigger.

It sits OK for me, but surely not a small watch. At least the weight is very low, adding to overall comfort.

That one haunts me...

If AP could refine Carbon Forge to be much more wear resistant I would totally jump on this one. Incredible on the wrist. Cheers Peter
