It is called the Jules Audemars Direct Impulse Chronometer with a 6hz movement...see below for more info πŸ˜‰

IMHO and putting it side by side with some of my other Independent pieces, I can pvjectively say that this particular piece is definitely comparable to some of the other top tier Indies from Romain Gauthier, Rexhep Rexhepi, Roger Smith, Voutilainen, Debethune, etc...in terms of architecture, concept, execution, finishing, etc...

A plus is that this 6hz movement provides superior stability, rate, chronometry, and shock resistance πŸ’ͺ

Have a look at these links for more info as well and hope that helps πŸ˜‰

I will explain the back story another time but I can say I have admired the AP Natural Escapement for it's non use of lubricants for a long time. Thr execution, architecture, and top finishing of this model just blew me away when I first saw it. It is a B...

Another horological home-run pick-up, Justin. Wasn’t aware that AP had dabbled in NE in the past; thought it was just Journe, Laurent ferrier and Kari during the yesteryears I look forward to more photos. Congrats again Hussam

I found this quote here from 2010 regarding the escapement, and a video

Fascinating- on both sides! Huge congrats on this new addition, my friend. You’re really going for the heavyweights!

Beautiful!

I bet that in real life the depth and details of the dial and movement look even more fascinating than in your pictures! Enjoy! All the best, Jon

Are you sure this is not AP replica πŸ˜…πŸ˜œ

When did AP make watches like that? I see a trend of collectors going back to earlier days of some brands like RD, PF and this AP etc but I have to agree this is where the craft is. Huge congratulations and now we have to go hunt them quick before you sco...

Wow

Let me cite THE MATRIX...

Simple yet so very complex. Aesthetically superb as well. Look forward to seeing more scans of this masterpiece. Darren

A tremendous AP. I almost traded for one a year ago.

Yes Ron, this came out a decade ago and always fascinated me with how APRP did the movement and how much work went intl making this piece...

it is truly a technical tour de force and the finishing / architecture is truly TOP, rivaling some of the best Independents. I am sure you would like it when you see it. I found a cool article written by SJX that showcases this piece which I will link bel...

I sure looks amazing and thanks for the link my friend. Definitely a watch I would love to see in person.

How do they polish those concave scalloped steel gears in the back? I don't get it... It's amazing! Also... Put this watch on your nightstand at night. And on a very quiet night, you'll realize how loud the Robin Escapement is! Makes me wonder if the soun...

It was a little loud for me. But definitely a lot to like!

 By: patrick_y : August 14th, 2022-17:39
It was a lovely watch. The robin escapement mechanism isn't self starting sometimes. Meaning you sometimes have to gently shake the watch to get it to start working, even if it is fully wound it may not self start. Lovely piece.

Another absolutely gorgeousοΏΌ piece!οΏΌ

Congratulations!

This is the kind of watch that reminds me why AP is my favorite holy trinity brand! Enjoy the heck out of it!

It's a shame

 By: andrea~ : August 14th, 2022-13:07
I'd love to see some new complicated pieces from the brand that are not Royal Oaks, and most of all I'd love to see a comeback of the star wheel as a permanent piece in the collection

OOF! That's breathtaking!

 By: andrea~ : August 14th, 2022-13:53
AP is sitting on so many classics from their past

Super piece

 By: Cookies : August 13th, 2022-03:24
It looks like a computer mechanized.

Something fishy here.....

 By: Halcro : August 13th, 2022-10:56
If you look at this movement with 'Google Lens'....there are many questions? Escher.... Fabrication...?

Hmm...

 By: patrick_y : August 13th, 2022-18:41
The design of the metal plate resembles fish scales? I can see that if that's what you're trying to mean that. Escher? Are you saying M.C. Escher? The "mathematical artist" of the 20th century?

Ah yes Patrick, that makes so much more sense and a DUH moment for me since I was lost with "halcro's" quote but will explain below...🀣🀣

 By: holdemchamp1225 : August 13th, 2022-20:07
What I can say is the guillochΓ© pattern which is hand made indeed resembles fish scales as mentioned by "halcro" but it could also resemble a barleycorn pattern as well. The movement plate itself is made of solid gold instead of brass or German steel like...

I consider it "barley" as well...

 By: patrick_y : August 13th, 2022-20:23
I collected fountain pens at a young age and this barley pattern along with a pinstripe pattern was offered on pens. So I would call it barley as well. But what an amazing timepiece. Just fantastic!

Beautiful movement

It's an amazing piece you have there, both from a technological perspective and an aesthetic one. It's such a shame AP discontinued the Jules Audemars line. I remember this one well (it was not inexpensive and in striking watch territory) as well as the o...
