Demand for some of these watches is way more than what manufacturers can/want to produce and are able to meaningfully allocate. Unlike wine - supply naturally limited - watches are man-made and we can also argue that supply is controlled, resulting in false scarcity.
Whichever side we look at it, that paradigm has shifted from say, 5 years ago to the brands’ favour - Rolex/AP/PP, even Lange these days.
When I bought the openworked in 2017, it was already hard to get then at retail, I can imagine it’s even harder to source one these days and besides, MSRP has also gone up a lot.
This watch is special to me in that it was a personal ask of Francois then, so for that, I am grateful.
