I am 1 for 1, if we are keeping stats but I was beyond lucky. All credit to the associate, the manager and the client who declined the offer. I just regret not buying the other piece as well. I do believe it was a 43 mm which is honestly a very nice size - lot more elegant than one would think. The whole prospect of the Offshore line slimming down is a great direction as I think 39 to 43 is a great size for wristwatches, at least for my wrist.
When AP launched Code 11.59(really bad name as it sounds like a James Bond film, and not one of the good ones!) they also released an Offshore ref. 26480 which was a 42mm case in titanium, a new crown guard, pushers and a face lift.
This year's Offshore models shows that the previous said reference was the a sign of things to come. I do want the 26480 reference in my collection as it is kinda like a prototype of sorts. It even has a closed caseback as the calibre isnt fitted for the size which I find to be an interesting quirk!
At a whole it seems they are slimming down the collection and leaning towards titanium and ceramic, which I think is a fantastic idea as both materials are more hardy and robust than their steel counterpart.
The titanium is so light it is almost silly and the bulk seems "less" because of it.
I really love the colour green and with both PP and AP releasing their most iconic collection in green it only makes the watch a bit more trendy.
My only want for this watch is having the plastic pushers changed to chamfers like they use in the ref 26420TI and a lot of others. The only downside to the chamfers is that it makes the watch a bit wider, but to each his own! Another solution is to apply the big crowns used in the Diver collection as subsitute. This being said I do adore the watch and it holds a special place of significance in my life and would not want any other watch as my first AP. It fits my lifestyle very much.
The white and black Offshores are stunning as well. So are the blue and white. To think that the Offshore collection when introduced was so controversial is fun to think about now. I do believe that the Aquanaut was also a bit controversial, but not in the same sense as the Offshore.
All black, carbon or ceramic is not my cup of tea either, but I can understand that somebody find joy in them.
The Offshore Diver is an absolute stunner. The 15720ST in blue or grey is very high on my list. And so is the 26420, which was the other watch they offered me.
Anyways,
Wish you a merry christmas and happy new year! I hope to take a picture rock climbing or with the northern lights for new years!
