AP has continually had dress watches in their line, if you look in their catalogues you'll see them. They obviously don't sell, does any purist even one? I've heard PP's base level calatravas aren't their hot sellers, either, although perhaps moreso than with AP.
AP needs another successful line to go with the RO and ROO. They also need a new caliber as their current movements are well known for being not the best timekeepers (this is not an attack on the brand, just ask a watchmaker about it).
Sporty watches are where the sales are, not just today, but for years now, and for years to come. A sporty/dressy watch on a strap with a round dial (again, the best selling shape forever), is a great balance for the RO.
I hope it works well for AP, they increased revenue consistently as the industry contracted a few years back. Looking forward to seeing what they show their last year SIHH.
