I visited the AP Boutique last week
I went there to find a new strap for my Diver. The main reason was that I never really loved the original wide straight strap with its big buckle. Although extremely comfortable, it's not my style. I love the look of the "traditional" tapered strap with the deployable, but the comfort was always an issue for me.
So I tried a few options:
- Original Diver strap in different colors was not an option because still too wide.
- Tapered an deployable neither because not comfortable at all.
- So I tried a few options coming from current Offshore Chrono collection, tapered strap and narrower pin buckle. After considering a few colors, I found that I prefer the black one. Love to match it with the details on the dial and the rubber crowns.
But when I had made the decision and they opened the plastic bag, I noticed that the texture of the tapered black rubber strap was not the same as the original Diver strap, OMG! I love the texture of the Diver one and how it ages. I'll go to the pool and the beach with the Diver and don't want a too "delicate" strap.
I know, I'm too picky, maybe, but I left the Boutique after an hour or so without a new strap. I hope I can live with the original one. We'll see in a few weeks when I go on holidays with the watch.
