I adore the 11.59, but really....what is it? Is it a sports watch or a dress watch; or the latter trying to be the former, albeit with a WR rating of 30 meters?............

Really conflicted on the 11.59 to be honest. I love the design, which is know for most people is either love-or-hate. The thing that confuses me though is how it is positioned. A 30 meter water resistance to me, screams "ultra-thin dress watch, don't get me near water!". However, the more bulky design and reflections of the Royal Oak in its design, says sporty watch. Regardless of what they think it is, I think they did the watch and market (and themselves) by not protecting these things internally with a 100 meter water resistance. Especially considering Bvlgari figured out how to do a 100m in their ultra-thin Octo models!
Anyway, as much as I like the watch, I won't tolerate a 30m water resistance on anything outside of my ultra-thin dress watches, so I think it's a deal-killer for me on the 11.59, which is a shame as I really like the watches and their various attractive dials.

I own a Code and never had any problems while wearing it in the pool or beach. If you are a diver, get a Seadweller. Otherwise for us mortals, the water resistance on this AP should suffice.
I‘d say the Code is neither a sporty nor a dress watch

… but a casual, everyday kind of watch. I never wear a watch on a strap in water, so the WR doesn’t bother me in any kind of watch, except the diving sort. Just my perspective. If the WR is an issue for how you intend to wear the watch, I‘d suggest you do...
Sounds like this is not for you

3 ATM is only good enough to get rained on. People may tell you their 3 ATM watch has been OK whilst swimming but that is a disaster waiting to happen. Swimming generates much higher water pressures than 3 ATM. Your watch has to be at least 5 ATM for surf...

For me, i think that the watch represents the general direction that business fashion is heading towards, with the casual smart/borderline athelitic styling that has become very common. So i think it can be considered a dress watch for the modern age of v...
Douglas, I completely share your opinion!

IMHO a WR of at least 10 bar should be a standard in modern watch production. I often wonder why this is not always the case. It’s not just about whether you can go into the water with a watch or not. As I see things a housing with a higher WR is generall...
