Beautiful Review
The history of the AP Royal Oak is truly incredible; the original first Sports Watch from the Swiss Big Three. Always loved the Royal Oak, the combination of a restrained amount of polished surfaces and large amount of brushed surfaces makes this watch so classically elegant, so 1970s, that when i think of the design era of the 1970s I think of this watch (1920s, Art Deco; 50s/60s Bauhaus, etc.). I think this watch to me represents the icon of 1970s design. And it's a great combination of classic modern styling with the traditional but modern square guilloche. Didn't know the dials were originally made by Stern Creations, good to know!
Thank you for including the tear down of the 3120 as well. Useful technical information for the techno-geeks (I probably consider myself somewhat of a finishing geek).
All in all, I think this watch looks great on any woman. But maybe one with a white strap would give it more of a "young" and "fun" look. But that's another great part about this watch, you can dress it up or down whenever you need to.

Thanks for reviewing the history of the Royal Oak. I agree it is a great release for AP to have this 37mm Royal Oak. IMO the criticism of the discontinuation of the 15300 is not so much that it forces a potential buyer up in price on the jumbo or in size ...

Black dial 37mm..
Black Dial 37mm only comes with the gold case, according to the AP's site. How I wish the 37mm steel model comes with the iconic blue dial. Then it will be an easy sell to me!
