AP SS or titanium and Platium

Aug 08, 2018,14:50 PM

Hello all, I need your input on the new AP Chronographs.  I have the 41mm, SS braclett/blue dial on order but today the boutique emailed me with the opportunity to buy the titanium bracelet and Platium bezel one with the same dial.  The price difference is about $12K for the latter and I believe the materials used are the only difference.  I haven’t seen either in the flesh but from pictures it appears the titanium and Platium one seems very shiny.  Pictured below from Chrono24 is the titanium/Platium model.  Your input or thoughts would be appreciated...Jim

Steel

I personally wouldn't do12k for the metal difference (if that's all that it is).

I'm not an AP guy so I defer to those in the know, but bank account permitting I'd make the trade in a heartbeat. Granted, I'd be buying for personal pleasure rather than speculative or investment value.

If the latter is important (and fair enough that it is), SS is today's "unobtainable" so I'd stick with your order. My .01 😊

Thank you

You both verify my initial thoughts and it is nice to have this forum for that. I’m buying for myself but not convinced I would like the upgrade over the steel, has anyone else received one of these? Thanks again...Jim

IP without any hesitation.

It’s a LE and boutique exclusive so much harder to get than a standard chrono. IMO, it has a totally different look too, not only because of the mixture of brushed Ti and polished Pt but also because of the very special dial colors. Best, Volker

Yes I just looked at the two watches together and realized the dials are different. If you have seen the LE is it too shiny in your opinion, it looks that way in the pictures to me. Picture off of Chronon24...Jim ...

It’s a bit more shiny than the standard one.

But it really depends on the light. Sometimes the polished Pt bezel seems to be black. I have seen the IP model live. It’s a stunner. But I’m biased as you will see in the course of today. 😉

100% agreement [nt]

IP without any doubt (if you can allow it)

I had 2 SS (black&white and white&black ones) and the IP in hands, and I decided, without any hesitation, to buy the IP one. Yes, the latter looks a little more shinny (and is a little more fragile), but its dial is stunning and has really "someth...

Thanks everyone

I certainly like “much more exclusive” . And holding it’s value is very appealing to me, I like having money in the bank so to speak...The SS is also selling for more than retail on the secondary market, there are 45 of them compared to 28 of the IP. I fe...

The IP without any doubt and hesitation
