This is my fourth ROO: I love the designs of these watches -- this one will be the keeper.

In a serial fashion, I have had the first gen Safari, a titanium Schumacher, and the stainless Panda. None of them was much more "durable" than this one -- stainless, especially, is prone to scratches and dings. The Schumacher seemed a bit large for me. This one ticks all the right boxes for a watch that I can shower with.
I have to warn you of one other thing -- some owners of these pieces complained that the titanium "trim" on the pushers fell off -- I looked into this and it seems to be less common than the chipping issue. Again, I felt that if something like this happened, I would have no problem bringing it back to AP for restoration.

AP Royal Oak Offshore forged carbon

Hi, I’m seriously 😐 considering this piece but have a couple of concerns. Does anyone know how sharp the case bevel is supposed to be? Compared to my mint 15300st’s very sharp original finish this one seems a bit dull. The lug to strap area particularly. ...

My thoughts...

The carbon is such a unique look that I love. The bezel in particular looks polished, which is surprising considering its carbon and I'd think you wouldn't want to polish it. More specifically, I usually judge whether a bezel has been polished by looking ...

Hi, thanks for the reply 🙏 I didn’t mention that this model has the ceramic bezel

and the caseback and pusher frames are titanium. The bezel and screws are virtually flawless, almost new looking. ...

Gotcha

Thanks! Based on some photos I just saw of the offshores, it seems the bezel is a bit different than the standard royal oak, and perhaps the smaller distance is expected. Great looking watch!

Looks correct

The bezel should be the “satin finish” which looks correct. I personally love this size and it’s very wearable on a smaller wrist. I don’t have a large wrist but love big watches and this one is brilliant. Great choice. ...

Thanks 🙏 yes it is a satin finish like your ceramic case ver

ion. Looks great and the pusher crown assembly works so well design and function wise. I noticed that the watch doesn’t flop or move at all, it wears so naturally.

My case is ceramic...

So I can’t comment on the forged carbon case.

Bezel is ceramic, not carbon, hence the different finish. Forged carbon isn't as hard or dense a material so the bezels and lines on the case aren't going to be as sharp as a metal or ceramic case

Forged carbon is not very abrasion or scratch resistant compared to ceramic or metal so those will be better choices if you want to have and keep those sharp RO case creases. Where forged carbon wins is that it is structurally strong and light so if those...

I have this exact reference --

My thoughts: I did extensive research into a perceived "weakness" in the carbon fiber. AP had all-carbon cases/bezels before they designed this one (Alinghi, etc.) and they put the ceramic bezel on the 26400 to prevent the "chipping" that may happen in ca...

Very informative reply, thanks Jim14. Stealthy and stunning sums it up well!

I have seen pics of the Alinghi model where flaking and chipping seems more common, especially on the bezel. As you point out the case alone is more protected and I believe the resin/compound was really improved for these newer versions. Having the cerami...

Dont know why but I have more confidence in this case

made of so called Breitlight. ...

I saw that piece in the summer. I got a more plastic like vibe from it but perhaps that will actually make it stronger.

I'm not as concerned about case failure but it is a consideration. I don't believe either will shatter like ceramic can, something that worries me more than issues with carbon if it becomes compromised. The Breitling is a fun watch and I enjoy the colour ...

Thanks holdemchamp I appreciate the vote of confidence. It's true, likely

because ceramic allows for the usual AP finish standard and ability to match case and bezel it may be more popular. The perpetual black ceramic is a stunning piece. The fact that AP isn't using forged carbon anymore (I believe) may contribute as well. I'v...

I still think it's the best looking 44mm ROO because of the contrast between the case and bezel, and the other bits. Very comfortable, very light. My case looked pristine during that time.
