Teasing Hublot?

Jul 30, 2021,16:51 PM

The two are in competition for the best quick strap change system. Another one i can not forget, Cartier.
Maybe more in competition, friends can fill on the list if they want. Feel free.

My question is when i read your thread, is it a taste preference?
Do some of us want a well shaped release button for the strap on the view side of the watch? Or hidden?
Release buttons on the side of the lug attach system?
A smart push system integrated in the crown?

A lot is possible.

Nice AP, and to tease, the Hublot Big Bang and the spirit, nice strap release buttons. šŸ˜‰

After weeks of ownership, I finally tried the new quick change strap system

As easy as pie. Credit to AP for getting it done without the need of a button on the viewing side of the watch. Black looks just as good on this special dial as the taupe strap. Also nice they include 2 straps with the new collection. ...

Here is a slightly better shot.

I need to get the good camera out for this one. ...

Looks pretty good!

Dear Michael!

For me personally your Offshore is the most exciting and beautiful iteration I have ever seen. The dial is to die for. Now I am thinking of trying (I generally have to explore how an AP Offshore in 43 mm feels on my wrist) and getting it. I also have a so...

Thomas - you should go for it.

As you know, I have owned a few Offshores these past 20 years. I can't get enough of this particular version. It evokes very cool feelings on the wrist, different than any others I have owned.

It looks beathtaking on your wrist!

I donĀ“t dare to imagine if Jocke or Nico would make some shots.... Best Thomas

It is a very special and unique offering.

It sunk me quickly, that is obvious!

These new Offshores are really nice!

My only small complaint (and same with the new diver) is that I would have preferred to see the full brand name engraved on the dial rather than just ā€œAP.ā€ This would have minimized negative space on the dial. But itā€™s a small quibble.

A good point

This i would say, Are modern customers important? Is AP focussing of modern customers? Modern language? New public? Do AP forget the stylish, classic, and history loving customers? The land lords who smoking a cigar in the book room? The land lords who ar...

That is an interesting point.

I am a "less is more" person, and feel any time this brand produces a Royal Oak or Royal Oak Offshore, anything beyond an "AP" is not necessary. The octagon IS Audemars Piguet. But... it could be fit in there and be OK. I am a big fan of the AP logo for t...

Their new quick strap change system is really well done.

And what a nice engineering effort for the buckle alone! I changed already a few times the strap on my Diver and it is a matter of seconds. Btw I also like a lot your watch with the black strap!

Seriously, the buckle design is amazing.

AP really got it right.

Great Choice Michael!

Saw these in person at the boutique and they are gorgeous! Congrats!

Which boutique?

I canā€™t find them in stock anywhere

Hello my Friend, glad you saw them.

I can say with conviction that the 43mm wears more comfortably than the 42, and not even close to the 44. Very pleased with AP's updates to this collection.

Teasing Hublot?

Hublot can get away with a big button on their lug. Not AP.

The Royal Oak Offshore is a true icon. You can't plop a big button on it it and call it good. Credit to AP for doing it the right way.

Yes, you right

An Offshore with a button on the 12 and 6 for releasing the strap is impossible. Hublot have the freedom to design, lucky guys.

Thank you. It was just a quick phone snap.

I guess it speaks to my schedule when I went weeks without even trying this revolutionary new strap change system!

Thanks Tony. It is the first new AP Offshore that screamed "buy" to me in some years.

 By: MichaelC : July 31st, 2021-14:50
That is exciting, and I imagine this updated platform carrying the collection for many years to come.

The black strap leaves all the attention on the spectacular dial.

 By: MichaelC : July 31st, 2021-14:52
And the vibe for me has always been unique. Nothing else feels like an Offshore on the wrist (and I don't mean the physical feel, I mean the emotional feel).

Looks great!!!

I think the black is definitely more dressy. Do you know if there are croc or alligator strap options? Cheers Peter

I have not looked into it yet. I am sure they are coming if not already available.

So far, I am quite thrilled with the 2 rubbers supplied with the watch.

Are you referring to contraception or erasersā€¦orā€¦

 By: pfang56 : August 2nd, 2021-14:55
Straps when you say ā€œrubbers?ā€ I had a UK colleague who told his US assistant to get a pack of ā€œrubbersā€ - without realizing that in the UK the phrase refers to erasers, while in the US it refers toā€¦wellā€¦a form of contraception! Funny to see the expressio...

Just the straps!

Sorry I was not clear ;-)

Well I will admit, with my aging eyes...

Strap changes on older APs are not as fast and easy as they used to be for me! So the new system is a welcomed advancement.

Agreed Michael šŸ‘

Best version of the new 43mm

 By: sea_brownie : August 9th, 2021-11:13
This strap replacement works well (the best) on this version vs others. Maybe the blue ti grey version also. All the other version the 2nd strap options donā€™t really work. The black dial SS has a brown leather strap as stockā€¦ thatā€™s just grossā€¦
