A 15400 question with context...
I am considering adding either a black dialed or silver dialed APRO 15400 to round out a 4 watch collection of sports and dress watches. I have provided images of the other watches for context. The APRO will fit as a less robust sports watch that falls between the Rolex (rugged, water resistant dive watch) and the two more formal watches (Breguet and Patek). The question posed in this post is which dial color works best within this collection, assuming you like both versions (which I do)?
Black Dial: Leans a bit more toward sport and has higher contrast dial legibility. One can argue that the dial color is redundant with the Rolex or that it differs more from the Breguet or the Patek.
Silver Dial: Leans a bit toward dress and shows the subtleties of the grand tapiserie dial pattern. It contrasts the Rolex dial but is somewhat redundant with the white grand feu enamel of the Breguet.
Obviously, there is no "right" answer, but I would love to hear your thoughts and rationales regarding which to add; particularly from those of you with experience with both dial color.
