My first AP

Nov 09, 2018,02:48 AM

Good morning everyone,

I am fortunate enough to hold a small collection of watches and I am now looking to add my first AP.

I tend to gravitate towards steel sports watches, so my interest is in the 41mm Royal Oak 15400ST. I have a Panerai and a Breguet XXI, so a larger watch suits.

In the UK a blue dial is only available via a Boutique (meaning London) and there is a very long waiting list and also there is a lot of hype around the blue dial as being the true DNA? I am actually interested in the silver dial and wondered what the views of the forum are?

Regards, Patrick

Yep I have the silver dial and have enjoyed it for several years- wouldn’t think about trading

Excellent! I don't worry about "true DNA" or "historically correct" or the like

These notions do amuse me and are not uncommon around here. The silver dial is a wonderful look, if you like that, go for it without hesitation. My first time only / date Royal Oak was a silver 15300, I thoroughly enjoyed it and never longed for a differe...

I personally liked the 15202 which is only blue now... But you can get a 15202 silver on Chrono and they are more affordable than blue. So my vote goes to 15202 preowned in silver.

I have owned both the blue and the white/silver...

...and while both are no longer in my possession, the latter is quite a stunner! The white changes to a cool silver with a tilt of the wrist while the blue changes to a um...blue. (But what a blue it is!) Alfred
