My experience

I dealt with precisely the same situation 2 years ago with mine, with them. They simply will not give you the old crown back, and will not perform the service without replacing it. Personally I feel that the AP logo crown does not reduce the value and on the contrary, that knowing that the movement is in ship shape and the watch is properly sealed for wear without worry, is in fact a net positive both to you as the wearer and to a potential buyer. That said, a buyer may have another preference, but I figure that were I to buy such watch again, I would be ok with this replacement crown, myself. Mine is YG so fewer than steel out there, and I chose to rest assured it is in safe operating condition vs original and potentially vulnerable, as I wear all of my watches. All of this said, I do encourage you to be diligent as there are other things which can go wrong in the service process.

Thank you stabilizer. Would you mind sharing what can go wrong with the AP service process before I give AP the go-ahead with the service?
