To each his own, indeed.

Maybe Green Lantern would have been more in vogue regarding 2021 watch colors.

Cartier, if anyone at all, should have done a "PanthĆØre" edition.

Hehehe!

Pictures dont do this watch justice.

 By: HelixL : April 18th, 2021-14:51
Whilst its as far as possible from being a watch Iā€™d acquire, when you hold it in the flesh thereā€™s something to it. Looking through a loupe into the eyes of the panther is quite something. Concept at 42mm is another plus in my books.

1 down, 249 to go.

Does it count?

He's a brand ambassador, right?

 By: jleno : April 18th, 2021-15:28
I'm assuming he might not have had a choice

I think he is, he designed an Offshore a while back.

I've brought this up before. But he wears so many different AP models (and he does it well, just like the one above) but they don't do anything else with him in regards to marketing, new signature watch, ... all that. 1 signature model a decade or so ago....

Horrendous!!

Horrendous!!!

Hummm... not sure what to think here!

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : April 18th, 2021-16:04

You are confused my friend. Core values remain at heart -nothing is cheap about the watch. AP is just embracing few other segments. Here is an attempt to break 'the' mold. There is a ...

...whole another class of classy ppl who don't fit into the old mold. Watch may not appeal to old molded class but it certainly delivers a powerful message of inclusion to different but real breed of collectors.

Nope, sorry to disagree my friend -- you might be making confusion if you think this watch has so much to do with a....watch! ;-) We may like it or not technically, and that's fine: in fact, horology is the *only* thing I look for in a watch! ;-)

 By: FabR : April 18th, 2021-19:21
But I don't need a watch brand to "educate" me about the usual "core values" or anything else. I'm old and happy enough that this just doesn't cut it with me. Read their press release and you'll see exactly what they mean -- there's political correctness ...

Iā€™m not sure FabR, sympathy isnā€™t tied so solidly to political adherence for all. The sentiment more than the politics is what matters.

 By: oyster case : April 18th, 2021-20:43
Iā€™ve said already, AP supporting improvement, through charities, in the lives of underprivileged youth makes me more proud to own one. Remember, faith based groups often do similar work. To admire the difference they can make doesnā€™t necessitate an adhere...

With all due respect to everyoneā€™s opinion.

By: Time to watch : April 18th, 2021-21:07
I have to agree with FabR. Audemars has in 1992 created the Royal Oak foundation wristwatch, which featured the image of a tree on the dial to support its charity of saving the planet and through preservation of forests. This I found tasteful and beautifu...

Yes, certainly. But environmental causes have and continue to be as much associated with political leanings as anything.

 By: oyster case : April 18th, 2021-21:21
This entire Marvel affair has been way over scrutinized. I'm not scouring the minutiae as so many and reading into everything so much. AP make incredible watches and have the most solid design platform in the business. That's what I enjoy and chose to foc...

I am in agreement with you on solid design and incredible watches.

By: Time to watch : April 18th, 2021-21:49
As far as this watch is concerned i have a differing opinion. Itā€™s not just this one watch that we are discussing but more so the direction AP is taking, the road itā€™s heading down so to speak. As far as environmental causes being political, sure they can...

Very Cool

Pretty sure that's Michael B. Jordan, he's an actor from the first Black Panther movie and People Magazines sexist man alive 2020.

Please go easy on me! I just didn't pick up on the emoji and thought it was a reference to an actor from the movie. These damn face masks!

It has upset some watch people because a beloved line has been used as a canvass to produce something altogether different. I find this rather odd. It doesn't change the Royal Oaks the same people like and even cherish. It's just another iteration. That's...

I might have oversimplified the 'cultural significance' element of the Black Panther above.

 By: Rosneathian : April 18th, 2021-20:33
In pure business terms its a Disney product now. The main purpose of Marvel movies is to communicate how great the US military and intelligence agencies are, with some crash-bang-wallop thrown in for a treat. It's not nearly as sharp-edged as the comics w...

And if he is a brand ambassador, I guess AP needs all the help they can get on this one!

In this world of Royal Oaks, Nautiluses, Daytonas, and RM11ā€™s where everybody literally has some variant of the same watch, itā€™s nice to see some differentiation these days. Certainly not loved by everybody, but the more I see it, the more I get it. Subje...
