Completely agree.

 By: NoH : April 10th, 2021-12:51
And unfortunately I feel the Panther ruins it. Everyone to their own of course.

Absolutely.

 By: amanico : April 10th, 2021-13:54

Have you visited their website and seen the videos Nico?

 By: oyster case : April 10th, 2021-13:58
I could watch them all day 👍

No, not yet.

 By: amanico : April 10th, 2021-14:00

Maybe 🤔 you would prefer this AP collab Nico?

 By: oyster case : April 10th, 2021-14:35
Do you know this one? ...

AM Zagato?

 By: amanico : April 10th, 2021-14:37

I already offered my feelings in the other thread

 By: Gwai : April 10th, 2021-09:33
on the subject and am in something resembling shock, no awe. Cheers Marc

Having an early look...

 By: pfang56 : April 10th, 2021-09:39
42mm concept with a flying Tourbillon and ceramic bezel makes the watch extremely wearable on a day to day basis. The box itself is pretty exciting too. Pricing as I understand is relatively reasonable. Of course, the biggest question for aficionados will...

agree Peter, need to be judged after a second or even a third test on wrist.

 By: patrickh : April 10th, 2021-09:50
Often, a novelty is growing on mind with time ;-)

You tried it on Peter?

 By: redcorals : April 11th, 2021-05:35

I had a chance to see it in person...

 By: pfang56 : April 11th, 2021-08:24
Pretty incredible craftsmanship, finishing, details, etc. Sizing is perfect at 42mm and the Tourbillon cage is incredible. And a really cool box (it actually lights up)! Again, not for everybody. I also think there could have been equally successful if th...

Incredible..I wish i was there with you. Even though this one is not for me, I can really appreciate the level of craftsmanship behind that piece. It is directed towards an audience this forum understandably fails to recognize. There is a whole new breed.

 By: redcorals : April 11th, 2021-09:28
...of serious collectors and comic con fans who don't give any heed to normal or traditional watches. You are correct- This will be lapped up by geeks and celebs who don't give 2 hoots about 15202 or 5711 or AHCI snobs. This def has a place in a collectio...

I'm with you Patrick. Bold, Artistic, Unique, very AP

 By: MichaelC : April 10th, 2021-09:41
Laser engrave a 44 Magnum or a 1911 on the dial and I am all in. But here, even though comic characters do nothing for me, the brand has created an exceptional timepiece.

Agree! What if it was not a BP?

 By: pfang56 : April 10th, 2021-09:45
Let's take for instance a skull - which is so popular these days. I think there is great potential with the lineup - it's also an excuse to "test the market" a little bit with some audacious designs. I get a feeling there will probably still be 250 happy ...

So incredibly true.

 By: MichaelC : April 10th, 2021-09:54

a 911 for me ;-)

 By: patrickh : April 10th, 2021-09:47

Exactly, Patrick. To each his own.

 By: MichaelC : April 10th, 2021-09:56
A gun for me, a car for you, other things for other folks. I never knock other peoples interests. I think it is incredible how much money was raised around today's event, what a positive story in a world of mostly doom and gloom. Bravo, AP. This brand is ...

If this continues, it will put off many serious collectors. Just silly.

My thoughts as well FabR, word by word.

next one = Captain America with all its colors

 By: patrickh : April 10th, 2021-10:20
then Wonder Woman for M/F equity ;-)

:)

 By: aris d : April 10th, 2021-10:27

Yes, part of a 15 years long work on AP's part.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : April 11th, 2021-08:59
Rap stars a decade ago and athletes carefully chosen such as Serena Williams and boxer Anthony Joshua. Now this. All to renew and continue building AP's efforts to grow a new and younger market for mechanical watches.

Damn ugly 🤢

 By: Fat Bastard : April 10th, 2021-10:21
I love how with the figurine and the central wheel are positioned ; Black Panther seems to be coming at you « balls out » 🤣

Mixed feelings

 By: Tim_M : April 10th, 2021-10:35
I believe it would have been better if the dial had stuck with color palette-driven themes and saved the explicit "Panther" branding for the caseback. Best, Tim

Is this a step closer to the Richard Mille segment?

 By: pfang56 : April 10th, 2021-10:38
Actually, after think about this further - could this be seen as AP's move to the RM segment? There are many of these rather special collaborations with RM leading to some pretty incredible valuations - but I imagine would not be ideal for most of us in t...

Thanks for sharing. Actually, I didn't know these and was just about to say that

 By: Gwai : April 10th, 2021-15:29
RM was beginning to look downright respectable and sophisticated now in view of Leather Coat Man's Marvelization of that venerable brand AP is and used to present itself as. Cheers Marc

AP owns 25% of RM and APRP has done much with RM.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : April 11th, 2021-09:01
So, they are interconnected.

That's just the beginning.... There are so many heroes, so stay tuned, more LE

 By: piccolochimico (aka dsgalaxy1) : April 10th, 2021-10:41
I don't like it, it's just a toy to praise a comic hero. Something you might expect to find on a fake watch stand The auction result...well, we all know how they work.

Not my cup of tea tbh

 By: Watchonthewrists : April 10th, 2021-10:47

A true work of art, without question a very interesting and bold watch. Go to the website to really see it.

 By: oyster case : April 10th, 2021-10:49
The video of the making of the panther is impressive. This isn't your father's cloisonné enamel lol. The coherence and execution are beyond reproach. Of course, like with all art it won't resonate with everyone, nor was it intended to. As FHB questioned D...

Well said, oyster case.

Fitting super cheesy toy characters in mega dollar watches is an art, AP did not master the rules before breaking it here... The main problem is not the how the watch looks but its target audience... I wish FHB would keep some funding to increase his QC s...

AP at its worst...

 By: MiguelFlash : April 10th, 2021-16:01
I never would have thought that a member of the so called trinity would make a comic book watch that if I saw in Walmart toy section I wouldn’t pay more than $10 for as a gift for my son. They should be embarrassed imho. But that is just my opinion.

Whoever buys this must be mentally challenged. This is a real joke. I’ve lost a ton of respect for AP. This is also the reason why I’ve gone on to collect independents.

My words have must been offensive to you

 By: Mr.Gatsby : April 11th, 2021-08:33
I do apologize. I just cannot agree with the watch. Enough said.

On the original thread I opined that there were many ways AP could brand with Marvel.

 By: Uncle Chico : April 11th, 2021-02:52
Placing a comic book action figure on the dial was the least appealing of options IMO. I suspected it would have dial colours paired with characters' costumes and perhaps a character engraved on a solid case back. While I'm not an AP aficionado, as a casu...

Maybe put black panther on the caseback instead a la Omega Snoopy? I’m thinking the patterns/texture of his armor would make for a nice dial a la tapisserie..

 By: Echi : April 11th, 2021-04:12
I’m trying to look back in history and see if pop culture reference on a watch ever made it big. Best I can think of is mickey mouse on a timex / genta and Snoopy on the Omega. Hard to pass judgement. 50 years on this earth made me realize that on every o...
