What would you like to see from Audemars Piguet in 2021?

 By: MichaelC : December 28th, 2020-10:03
2020 saw a quickly revamped CODE 11.59 collection. A few new 44mm Offshores. More recently, an all ceramic Double Balance Wheel Royal Oak. Given that 2022 marks a rather significant anniversary for the Royal Oak, I am not expecting any new hallmark releas...

I think they have released many of those these past years.

Unfortunately, they typically start with a 2 or higher and have 5 zeroes after...

Edward Piguet & Jules Audemars

Tonneau case, R&P super tech. A beast, to make it short For Jules a classic time only. Less is more But none of them will be released

Well, this is the brand direction.

 By: MichaelC : December 29th, 2020-06:43
In terms of the boutique point of sale.

Reasonable prices.

I am with you here M4.

+1

 By: Cookies : December 28th, 2020-19:32

No dispute here. And same for other brands.

 By: MichaelC : December 29th, 2020-06:45
A first time Rolex buyer cannot go buy a new Daytona from a dealer at retail, even if that is the only watch he wants. Pay to play, unfortunately.

Good idea!

 By: MichaelC : December 29th, 2020-06:45

Oh that’s a great idea!

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : December 28th, 2020-11:36

I feel the current pricepoints in precious metals are decent.

 By: MichaelC : December 29th, 2020-06:47
In fact, think of a white gold CODE 11.59 chronograph with in house movement versus a steel and ceramic Offshore. I think the CODE 11.59 offers lots of value in this comparison. But a steel case, or how about titanium with a sporty dial... I would love it...

That could be great.

 By: MichaelC : December 29th, 2020-06:47
A good candidate for my Millenary dreams...

Tricky and loaded question Michael since it would be the 50th Anniversary for the Royal Oak so a BIG milestone...

 By: holdemchamp1225 : December 28th, 2020-14:38
No idea what they will come out with as thr 15202BC salmon dial could have served to be a great 50th Anniversary piece so I am throwing my hands up in the air. If we think about the occasion, it would have to involve the Royal Oak somehow but again if it ...

I'm not sure I follow.

 By: MichaelC : December 29th, 2020-06:49
My point was I do not expect any new significant Royal Oaks in 2021. They will likely come a year after. That will be a great topic to discuss.

No worries at all my Friend. You have some great ideas in your reply.

 By: MichaelC : December 29th, 2020-08:06
No doubt we will crank up 2022 Royal Oak 50th A. discussions next year. I know for a fact ideas have been kicked about for years, so I am expecting incredible releases for that series. It is good for AP, because 2021 can be devoted to all other lines. Hop...

A classy Jules Audemars PC under 40mm...

 By: mdg : December 28th, 2020-15:57
...and a thin, manual-wind, non-Royal Oak chronograph.

AP can certainly do this.

 By: MichaelC : December 29th, 2020-06:49
I would welcome such an offering.

I'd like to see...

 By: patrick_y : December 28th, 2020-17:27
I'd like to see a 15202 in steel with a blue dial on my wrist. Been drooling over yours for quite a while! Aside from that, I'd like to see a 15202 but without the date!

LOL! You can wear mine when we next meet. As for a dateless 15202...

 By: MichaelC : December 29th, 2020-06:52
I think that would be an amazing 50th Anniversary piece. I'm afraid others would complain it is not splashy enough, but make a single run of maybe 500 pieces that simply have no date... no other special markings needed. That would be incredible.

Big +1 πŸ˜‰

 By: holdemchamp1225 : December 29th, 2020-06:57

That would be perfect...

 By: patrick_y : December 29th, 2020-08:58
A 15202 without date, made in 500 units; with the first 100 of them reserved for WatchProSite members as our "group watch" like the Zenith watch. Heck, I actually like having a date, since the 15202's date disc is on a dark background that better matches ...

I'm ALL IN for a WPS edition of the 15202ST Patrick. Let's make it happen πŸ˜œπŸ˜‰πŸ’ͺπŸ‘

 By: holdemchamp1225 : December 29th, 2020-09:39
And to make it even more special, maybe we can have the rotor engraved for each WPS member's edition for that extra personal touch πŸ˜‰

LOVE this no-date vision for a 15202

 By: chap : December 29th, 2020-14:20
Was just thinking of that the other day in fact

the other thing I had in mind was

 By: chap : January 1st, 2021-11:58
Doing editions of the traditional tapisserie (sp) on jade and lapis lazulli. Burn through some tools - sure. But could you imagine the pure perfection of a pt or yg 15202 with a carved stone dial?!?

These dials would cost a fortune, and I'm not sure you could do that tapisserie on that kind of material...

 By: patrick_y : January 2nd, 2021-20:14
The dials being so thin would probably all crack. Still, a cool idea.

Simple wish

 By: Cookies : December 28th, 2020-19:35
An adjustable deployant strap system will be great for the RO series. I bet many owners suffer from a tight watch on hot days.

I have never had that issue. But I seem to get AP bracelets dialed in very easily.

 By: MichaelC : December 29th, 2020-06:54
I have half links for the various Royal Oak / Royal Oak Offshore bracelets, but don't seem to need them to get the fit just right.

Yes I think I need a half link

 By: Cookies : December 29th, 2020-17:45
Will order that shortly. Have a wonderful NY ahead Mike.

A more restrained Concept...

 By: MichaelC : December 29th, 2020-06:54
Interesting idea!

For 2021, I will be selling all my Royal Oaks and completely divesting myself from AP. I’ve had too many bad experiences and poor treatment at AP boutiques, namely New York and Bal Harbour, to be willing to continue to spend significant money on AP.

It is sad to hear this but unfortunately it is happening with not just AP but also Patek and Rolex...

I have been collecting now for 27 years and in that time have purchased HUNDREDS of watches for myself, family, and friends from these 3 manufacturers as well as many others. I do agree with you about the sense of entitlement from certain boutiques but we...
