‘Small’ Royal Oak Quarz Reference

Dec 07, 2018,02:22 AM

The watch looks like the platinum version of the common ‘small’ Royal Oak Quartz reference (56175) of the late 80s/90s (mainly D series). As a precious metal reference the diamond dial is more or less default. Only the color and the date aperture are a bit odd. Never seen something like that before. Phillips sold a white-gold 14700 two weeks ago with a similar setup in Hong Kong. The 56175 and the 14700 might have had overlap in the late 80s. The latter was probably in the catalogue from late 80s to 91/92 before the 14790 took over. So it is really only about the dial and we know that AP always gave a special dial to the precious metal versions and an even more special one to the platinum versions. Have a look at the dial of the 14802PT for example.
