As a Zeitwerk owner, I never consider it as a dress watch. It is more like a smart casual wearing to me. That comes to the design nature of the watch, a thick and black dial with a significant weight adding a sportiness/ casual nature, simply reminding “on your wrist” all times
I enjoy very much putting my Zeitwerk on desk hearing the tick sounds and watching it’s movement while I’m in front of my computer.
Talking to the current new offering in 2019. A date function is a good additional feature to the line, however as it’s not my daily wearing, I don’t bother to have a date at all. Having 72 hrs is a plus, but doesn’t bother me also.
The only improvement I’m looking for is the hourly advance function. If you don’t wear the watch often, adjusting time is a must and painful in the original Zeitwerk. Luckily the 36 hours offering allowing you to wind almost the same time when you pick up the watch again. e.g. 10pm fully wind would expect the stopping time is 10 am, again 10. So it’s still fine.
The final comment from me, if you’re seriously considering this watch, it’s a 44 mm! At 44, I will choose Zeitwerk Striking Time. Sound is another dimension, I didn’t chose striking only because it’s 44 that I can’t wear comfortably. otherwise I will choose 42mm original Zeitwerk even today
