SIHH 2019: Some live pictures of the Lange & Sohne Zeitwerk Date white gold / grey dial.

Jan 19, 2019,18:17 PM

A new Zeitwerk is born, this year: The Zeitwerk Date.

The case is bigger than the original Zeitwerk (44, 2mm ) whilte the original was 41, 9 mm big, and  tad ticker ( 12, 3 mm versus 12, 2 mm ).

The combination of white gold and grey dial is very nice. But what about the date surrounding the dial?

The movement is eye catching, as often, with Lange.

What do you think?

Best,

Nicolas

I like the new date display and the new movement looks better too.

However, aesthetic wise, the date display takes up a portion of the entire dial and not sure how it will blend in with the hour/minute display. Will reserve my judgement until seeing the real thing.

Zeitwerk is one of the very original design in recent times...

Adding a date to it, I thought wouldn’t be possible but I would say ALS have done it aesthetically well (yes the color scheme is too serious/dull but it is Lange...). I also like the way the date is highlighted in RED, well thought out ! If anything I don...

+1 [nt]

I love the looks, not the size.

But maybe i do like the older one a bit more . ...

I don’t think they have done themselves and favor with the date ring color scheme....

I personally loved the Zeitwerk and they corrected what was wrong with the old technically but this date ring and color is awful. My 2 cents

The date was unnecessary

It is too small and in red. IMO they should have left this one alone, it was perfect as it was.

I really like this evolution of the Zeitwerk

The addition of date and quick-set functions have vastly improved day to day wearing practicality of the watch. The ability to adjust the hours independently in 1 hour increments should also come quite handy when travelling. The movement as well is improv...

Very nice dial but it would have been better without date,

although an effort was made to keep the date display to a minimum

Same here, Tom. [nt]

This version doesn’t really do anything for me if I am being honest...

I would have loved to see a chronograph Zeitwerk. Maybe a mono counter in place of the power reserve. Possibly not the direction ALS wants to go with the 1815 and datograph already in the lineup. The technical complexities may also make it to big, but one...

I love it front and back, but it may be too big for me in practicality.

I love it aesthetically and technically. My third favourite piece of the year behind the VC dual frequency perpetual and the JLC masterpiece for immortals. You photos illustrate the dial beautifully. Thank you,

I’m indifferent about this new Zeitwerk. The original has a wow factor. Initially, that’s not my reaction for the new one.

I have to see it in the flesh, but from the photos, the monochromatic-like look isn’t that appealing. I haven’t even got to the extra 2mm yet. Thus far, I’m not excited, but will reserve judgment for now.

The increased power reserve is great

now the pr indicator become more useful.. But aesthetically I think the date ring doesn’t go well with the zeitwerk look.. Perhaps they could have left out the seconds indication and used a pointer date system in the 6 oclock subdial.. tat way the watch c...

Having lived with the Zeitwerk...

Living with the original Zeitwerk, I have to say, it's a really cool watch. But there are some flaws... 1. It's huge for a dress watch. And thick! 2. It's really hard to wind, the crown is downright very painful to wind as the mainspring is a thick gauge ...

My pleasure Nico!

Great and honest review

As a Zeitwerk owner, I never consider it as a dress watch. It is more like a smart casual wearing to me. That comes to the design nature of the watch, a thick and black dial with a significant weight adding a sportiness/ casual nature, simply reminding “o...

I have seen it in the metal at SIHH as well.

I have to say, if I didn’t have a Triple Split on order and if there was no limit to this craziness, I would have ordered one on the spot. By far my favorite watch at the fair.

Strangely, I prefer the RL JS with the white dial.

As to the TS, my only regret is having to wait so long... I think it’s a truly unique watch and really, really look forward to wearing it.
