Put it on a strap that isn’t black and wear it for a couple weeks.

The new strap (I’d go with a medium brown, maybe with some red tones, in croc) will warm it up.

Should I?

This Lange 1 was my dreamwatch when I entered this great hobby of ours after 10 years of abstinence Practice shows I’m wearing it much too rarely. In fact I’ve worn it in my 3 years of ownership probably not more than 10 weeks. I never sold one of my watc...

Thick fingers I’m afraid

Why not

😉

Thick fingers and iPad, never a good combo…

Unless you have a collection that requires this specific reference, buy something you’ll wear.

I don’t have a collection, only watches I like and have opportunity to wear.

Wouldn’t call the watches I have a collection either, but

you’ve said it all: buy something you'll wear. Sound advise, thanks Uncle C.

True words, Nico, thanks for chiming in.

It feels like a divorce nevertheless.

Yep, clearly.

 By: amanico : July 24th, 2022-17:21

I guess some questions to ask oneself: Why did you buy it back then? Why did you not wear it often?

 By: Clueless_Collector : July 24th, 2022-17:24
Too precious? Too dressy? Too important since it is a grail? If you can wear this without restrictions or hesitations like the one you are thinking, will you miss it when you let it go? I think the barrier to break is understanding why this Lange 1 sat in...

Thanks for the input and relevant questions. Why I bought it?

 By: George Gently : July 24th, 2022-17:40
Because of the movement, the story of it being build together twice, the mathematical logic of it’s dial. Not too dressy, too precious or it being a grail (feeling of the latter was gone in weeks, by the way). If I’ll miss it, I don’t know. I don’t think ...

This is a good reason to sell it unless...

 By: CR : July 24th, 2022-18:53
... you're someone who habitually buys the same watch for a 2nd or 3rd time later and regrets selling it the first time. There are definitely some of those people out there! That doesn't sound like you, though, so it makes sense to part company ... and th...

You’re right, I’m not that kind of guy.

 By: George Gently : July 24th, 2022-19:19
Like I said, I’ve never sold any of my watches. Thanks for chiming in.

Let it Go!

That watch will not miss you. Move it on to get something that you will wear often and enjoy.

Short and to the point.

 By: George Gently : July 24th, 2022-17:45
Thanks baufoam.

Good questions.

 By: George Gently : July 24th, 2022-17:48
Tried to answer them above.

Now that’s a clear advice… 🥂

 By: George Gently : July 24th, 2022-17:55
I just might. I’m in sort of denial mode, but I’ll get there 😉

Are there any special

By: Jari from Finland : July 24th, 2022-18:03
Reason for not wearing it more often? Do you have other watches which are more suitable for everyday wearing? Patek is a great option and I understand well you are thinking about do the trade in it.

thanks for your input, Jari.

 By: George Gently : July 24th, 2022-18:27
The reasons why I’m not wearing it more often, I’ve tried to explain above. I’m an office guy, meaning I can wear dress watches 5 days a week. I tend to wear ever whatever I like, whenever I like. I’ve worn my Lange 1 with suits and jeans and T-shirt. If ...

That’s interesting, Obeezy

Why are you parting with your Lange 1, can put your finger on it? Have you also got a replacement in mind and if so, which one.

If possible ...

 By: diracpoint : July 24th, 2022-19:59
keep it for the time being and just add the new one. Then let the honeymoon period with the new one pass and then see how you feel ...

My advice: wear it for 2-3 weeks straight.

You'll either fall back in love, and appreciate why you bought and own it, or you'll know it's time to move on. John

Good luck! Let us know how it works out.

Cheers, John

Thanks, I will.

I'm not sure wrist time is the only measure to consider.

 By: Steve E : July 25th, 2022-00:30
I've had my L1 101.030 since 2005. I don't wear it all that often, and usually not during summer, but whenever I do put it on it gives me joy. Always, without fail. So for me it's a keeper. OTOH, if there were no joy, I'd have moved it out by now. I look ...

Put it on a strap that isn’t black and wear it for a couple weeks.

The new strap (I’d go with a medium brown, maybe with some red tones, in croc) will warm it up.

Good suggestion.

Right now I’m following @vitalsigns suggestion and wear it for the next three weeks. If that doesn’t work a strap change might.

Yes, you should sell the Lange 1. If you miss it you can buy it back. Lange 1 is for me yellow gold with champanger dial. The regular style PP 5235 have a nice dial in the wrong case. The form of the case is very similar to the old reference 3450 (perpetu...
