Lange rose gold middle cases - change from polished to brushed
Oct 31, 2020,10:44 AM
Until about 2015, Lange fully polished all of their rose gold cases, regardless of the model. Lange did this because of concerns about tarnishing on the brushed surfaces of their rose gold cases -- a concern that was not an issue for all of their other case metal alloys such as PT/WG/YG. Then, starting around 2015, Lange began brushing the middle cases of their rose gold models. FX noted this shift in this old post, where he wrote:
"I would not forget to mention than in addition to the watches, Lange presented two important changes this year. The PG case is now available with the polished & brushed alternation. Does that mean that the alloy change? No. Actually, Lange did all the tests which were required on a long run and the stability of the polished & brushed case is preserved. We can say that Lange was maybe a bit too cautious about this topic when the brand was re-launched."
We were all surprised to see this change!
Before 2015, I never saw or heard of a rose gold Lange with a brushed middle case. My guess would be that your case was brushed sometime after it was originally sold. It looks fantastic!
But I'm curious, does the warranty paper from your watch say it was sold in 2006? Also, what are the first 3 digits of the 6-digit caseback serial number?
