New for me!!!

I have tried on both. The original Dato was the first watch that changed my perception about everything related to watchmaking. It was/is a masterpiece and a classic.
However... As an evolution rather than a revolution, I think Lange improved on the original.
Aside from the PR:
1. The proportions feel better with the increase diameter, as it is a thick watch compared to other brands. The thickness stood out for me much more with the 39mm and the 41mm.
2. I love Roman Numerals. For me the Richard Lange with its Numerals is the best time only watch on the market. However, on chronographs, I feel simple baton indexes are better. There is a lot going on with a chrono - the subdials, the extra hands, the extra pushers. I feel the roman numerals in the dato serve as a distraction, rather than an enhancement. I guess this is why I also really like the dial of the Dato Perpetual, which is much more in sync with the new Dato rather than the older one.
3. The Auf/Aub - Even though it is a very small splash of colour, I really like the red markings, it adds a nice touch that fits in well with the rest of the dial. I also like the cutout and arrow - a much more visual pleasure than staring at an upside down 6 numeral!
Lange is a discrete brand, and their watches fly under the radar a lot with the general public, which I like a lot. However, the proportions of the 39mm made it a quite undiscrete watch when wearing - it was impossible to miss! The 41mm has smoothed this out, and feels a lot more discrete.
I know I am in the minority here, but that makes me even happier, hehehe!
Cheers, Imran
