If you want to buy a nice Lange collection, times have never been better

Ooh my, what on earth happened to the value retention of this amazing watch brand.

These 4 can be had for 100K Eur. Unbelievably low grey market prices. It seems iconic watches are no longer perceived as such.

1815 Yellow gold for the price of a steel Rolex 😬😢

I don’t think that we should get into market values of watches

A Dato is 35?!

 By: Passionata_george : January 19th, 2019-04:49
Those who are more familiar with the brand could you explain why this watches performs so bad on the secondary market?i mean i know supply and demand etc but i always appreciated the brand and their products except i found a bit old fashioned too my taste...

If I recollect...

Dato first gen was introduced in retail at around 20*k€ so at 35k€ it is still strong in used market. The question is what pushed the new Dato retail price sky high - considering material cost, labor etc are steady ! Best, Mahesh.,

bingo !

83k euros now...not really justified except the 'demand' it is not just ALS, most brands have done the same !

The problem isn't Lange. You can make the same collage about PP dress watches.

 By: Signo : January 19th, 2019-07:07
The fact is, all dress watches are in decline in the secondary market. Take the Regulator, which is a borderline dress watch, for example. It used to sell for around 50K second hand just a year or two ago, but now can be easily had for 35K full set. And i...

That is a stunning collection!

It is hard for you to find the space for the jumping hour now ;-) Great collection!

Signo, your collections makes me happy

I'll aim for my collection to reach a status similar to yours. Thank you for posting these pictures.

First things, first: watches are NOT an investment.

Every watch loses value the moment you buy it - Lange unlike PP did not engage in the process of buying their own watches in the second hand market to give the perception that their watches retain value. Never have i ever been told by any Lange boutique o...

It’s more than demand

 By: GreatPilot@me.com : January 19th, 2019-07:35
ALS does not build their brand with the advertising and PR that PP and Rolex do, their watches are commingle refereed to as “hockey pucks” and they all pretty much look the same, just beautiful movements and complications, no disrespect intended. It is wh...

Despite the attached post, I’m joining the ALS “bandwagon”...

Hope to land one or two in the near future. Agree with the many comments. We buy what we like and not the value we expect to get from the watch in the future.

I don't think the styling or design of the watches appeal to a broad enough audience of watch buyers. And they also did not, as others have said, do any work at supporting prices...

....via auction, advertising or otherwise. It took me a long time to come around to ALS in terms of the overall feel and look of the watch on the wrist. But I did come around. But I should add, there are not many brands or watches I would pay retail price...

Zeitwerk was 47 k new now 42 k: more than acceptable

By: COUNT DE MONET : January 19th, 2019-08:14
The 1815 (looks like s very early piece) was also around 8 k, nothing wrong here too. Lange has got fewer investment pieces but they were and are there. Compared to sport watches dress watches are a bit sluggish (pun intended).

Had a look into old price lists

 By: Saxon : January 19th, 2019-09:38
I was curious to know... Lange 1 (1995) DM 27k=EUR 13,8k 1815 (1995) DM 11.9k=EUR 6.1k Datograph (1999) DM 69k=EUR 35.3 Zeitwerk (2009) EUR 42.5k ...

Thank you for this

Pretty stable value. As I was also feeling it would be.

Wow strong point you make. Never looked into historical pricing. Thanks.
