I'm curious about specifics too, just to learn about the differences...

Whenever anyone says "a Lange ___ movement needs to be compared with an equivalent Patek ___" movement, I wonder, "Exactly how much time, effort, and skill does it take to build and finish each of those supposedly comparable movements?"
I'm less interested in drawing final conclusions about which is considered "better." I'm more interested in knowing the differences and tradeoffs in the different finishing decisions.
For example, several months ago I referenced an old comment that a wise and well-known expert made to me several years ago about how he noticed that Lange's perlage circles became larger in diameter over time, in the very same movement, than they used to be. He said this bothers him because it appears to be a decision made to save time (because smaller perlage circles take more time/effort than fewer larger ones).
So I'd like to see a person with substantial firsthand experience finishing high-end watch components do a detailed critique and comparison of several supposedly comparable movements at the same time (say, a Lange movement, a Patek movement, a VC movement, etc.). I'd like to read in detail, and see macro pics, showing how much time and skill it takes to finish a seemingly equivalent component for one brand's movement versus another's. I attended a really interesting presentation by Philippe Dufour in 2015 where he did a critique of another brand's movement, but it wasn't a Lange or Patek. Walt Odets, are you listening?
