Times have changed very quickly in the last few years

The US mortgage crisis is imho the reason why the books of Lange and others went bannanas.
To compensate losses, also future losses, the only trick was raising prices.
Patek was most daring by doingt so.
There are still very, very nice entry Langes ... but for a different clientel, as you are saying for richer enthusiast.
Back to this watch.
It looks very, very convincing and coherent with the theme: a watch that looks very Victorian Times like, like a watch from 1815.
The price aside it is a very appealing watch that fits beautifully into the league of special Langes.
The comparison with the Langematik Anniversary is not really fair, but you mentioned it also yourself.
Thank you for this enjoyable reading time!

Hands on review of the Lange & Söhne 1815 Tourbillon enamel dial
By: foversta : September 4th, 2018-14:12
The Lange & Söhne 1815 Tourbillon was unveiled 4 years ago. It seemed to be the most simple tourbillon watch from the Saxon manufacture and yet it was characterized by the joint presence of two important technical features: the stop-tourbillon mechani...

Your photos and words bring this beauty to life for those of us who can only dream, but your honestly on the lack of novelty and price points for special pieces from Lange are right on point and disturbing for mortal enthusiasts. I also think you are righ...

except maybe about the 1815 WL which is a very demanding watch due to its specific movement. And you are right with the Triple Split. Thanks! Fx
Nice pictures and honest review....

This trend not only applies to Lange but to other prominent brands, for example, Patek as well. In the early 2000's one could get a very beautiful and well-crafted watch around $10-$15k or a perpetual calendar around $35k and would be extremely proud wear...
Totally agree

IMHO it would be strong/full with character yet sublime.
Thanks for your comment!

Honestly, I am not a fan of hidden tourbillons. In that case, I don't see the point. They are basically useless in a wristwatch so if on top of that you don't see them... For exemple, I don't understand the presence of the tourbillon on the Lange One PC.
Thanks for the review, FX

As usual, spectacular pictures and a very well articulated comment. A bit harsh on Lange, but as we say "qui aime bien chatie bien. In all honesty, I don't think they are anywhere nearly as complacent as Patek when it comes to entry level models. But perh...

By coincidence, I was able to see this piece in person at a boutique several months ago. I agree with the points you raised in your review. It's nice enough -- a fine, respectable tourbillon -- though not a model that is innovative or breathtaking in any ...
