Congrats CL !

Congratulations John on this marvelous new addition! You know Anniversary is my most favorite watch. Among the three watches that you mentioned, at the moment, my favorite is the Anniversary. This may change after I have my Simplicity on my wrist for a while, or one day if ever I would acquire 5078 (one of my dream watches) and live with it for some time. To me, Simplicity is the ultimate modern simple watch. It is fundamentally simple and pure, and is peerless, although there are quite a few other examples in this category that I greatly admire. Then 5078 is my favorite "simple" repeater wristwatch with no other complication. All three watches come with enamel or lacquer dials, all of which are absolutely beautiful. (Actually for Simplicity my favorite dial is the guilloche. But if I could, I would pick one platinum with guilloche dial and one rose gold with lacquer dial. smile )

While I absolutely love the enamel dial of Anniversary, what I am truly in love with, is the entirety of the watch. Even just on the dial side, it's more than the dial itself. For example, the blued alpha hands are heavenly match to the white enamel dial with the red XII surrounded by the platinum bezel. The dial design of Anniversary is traditional, and can be found in many watches from past (e.g. of one hundred years ago) to now. However to my eyes, out of the limited number of watches that I have seen of such dial design, the Anniversary is the best looking one. This is all because of the nice Lange touch, e.g. the alpha hands mentioned above, one of the distinct brand design elements in modern Lange. Under different lighting, from different angles, the blued steel hands reflect with hues from deep black to light blue, very subtle and so fascinating, that many times I have to remind myself to be careful when wearing this watch, as I can't help keeping looking at the hands (the watch hands, not my own hands smile ) while driving.

On the enamel, I have zero problem having Anniversary as my daily wearer for several years. It didn't get any crack, probably because I am a gentle man (and I think I am a gentleman too smile ). I simply love enamel. Though I don't have my Anniversary on wrist while typing right now, I am indeed wearing another enamel watch -- another favorite of mine and my recent daily wearer, the 2526.

Dial design of Langematik Anniversary....

 By: CL : November 4th, 2009-06:11
I have always loved the classic dial design of Langematik Anniversary and I note that both Dufour Simplicity and Patek 5078P have similar design too. I wonder to you guys , out of the 3 such similar designs, do you have a preference and if yes, why? The s...

It is difficult to just talk about the dial, CL

As, for example, I think that we have to speak about the whole watch to explain why our love for the Anniversary. It is, indeed, less aristocratic or elitist than a PP, less confidential than a Dufour, but I love it. The movement? Yes, it is automatic whi...

and Schen definitely get me hook on it ;-) This will also be my first enamel dial and I'm glad that Lange does keep stock for this dial so I can wear it with ease The price point is really great compare to the other 2 examples. And each has their 'con' .....

Clang! We have the same taste!

I have at one time owned the Anniversary because of it's stately appearance and great size for my wrist, probably the very same reasons it attracted you in the first place. Owned it twice in fact but ultimately not a keeper. It's great for casual as well ...

Congratulation on your 5078P.......

it has been my dream watch for a long time only because of its amazing dial design. I love it but I think I will be too 'scared' to wear it often ;-) I want to wear all my watches as casually as possible, even for my simplcity. And now I'm very interested...

Congrats CL !

I am with you. On the automatic movement part (BTW, 5078 is automatic), I don't have a strong preference to either manual or auto. But being a daily wearer, an automatic certainly helps. Also, on the practical side, one of the nice features that I like An...

Just wonderful Nicolas :-) [nt]

I personally like the Patek 5078P dial. However, another favorite I like as well is the 5196P dial. Although the 5196P is popular, I look at this watch as perhaps the ultimate simple dress watch. I especially like small-second subdials for my watches, whi...

Congrat, CL!

Welcome to the Anniversary club My favorite is 5078P black dial - because the thinner lettering looks nicer and the shape of the hands looks more handsome... More "adult" look than Anniversary. But way beyond my league. Cronoswiss "Orea" has similar dial....

Thanks Ken :-)

I'm eagerly awaiting for the arrival of the watch *CL

Congrats on your acquisition CL!

It's a fine and worthy one, although regretably for me a no-go, due to movement type ( an automatic) and size ( under 40mm). Enjoy Stephen

Thanks Stephen...I'm not sure

if I can get use to the automatic movement but I guess it's a watch worthy to give it a try If I get use to the automatic movement , man...there will be alot of choices out there awaiting me ;-) Vianney Antiqua is definitely one of them *CL

CL, congratulations on your new piece.............

I shall look forward to seeing the photos. Thank you for such an interesting thread. I would dearly love to own a Simplicity and would happily sell all my watches just have one. CL, I hope that your wait is not to unbearable. But I reckon that the Anniver...
