A little poll : First generation or Boutique exclusive ?

 By: Maltie : November 24th, 2019-19:05
Both are stunning Chronographs but I wonder which one you like most. Left=first generation ref 401.026 Right=boutique exclusive ref 414.026 ...

1st gen

 By: LS : November 24th, 2019-19:32
I like the contrast of the blue hands on the white dial

1st gen

 By: sham1 : November 24th, 2019-19:37
The blue hands make reading the time more legible.

Boutique edition but I’m biased. [nt]

First generation

 By: Chromatic Fugue : November 24th, 2019-20:42
Both are gorgeous, but the silver-on-silver illegibility issue with the hour and minute hands would bother me a bit.

2nd edition is amazing in the metal

 By: Reuven Malter : November 24th, 2019-20:57
+ longer power reserve, which is imo very important.

I vote Boutique Edition [nt]

First Generation for me

 By: Saxon : November 24th, 2019-22:02
as I love the blue hands. ...

Tough call

 By: Jeff_M : November 24th, 2019-22:48
Love them both, but I’d go for the original purely on dial aesthetics. I like the blue hands and contrasting sub dials which match the case.

From the looks the first gen

By: COUNT DE MONET : November 25th, 2019-00:10
Regarding the movement second gen. My pic would be the new black or rg. However, here I would go for the boutique version, only by a tiny margin.

New Boutique for me pls

 By: ik2000 : November 25th, 2019-00:13
I have a lust for this watch!

Not easy

 By: Jurry : November 25th, 2019-00:18
I can understand your predicament as it’s not an easy choice. Appealing (to me) of the boutique version are the upgraded movement and the color of the sub-dials (less yet still sufficiently different from the main dial whilst in the 1st gen the sub-dials ...

For me the newer boutique version.

 By: jlux : November 25th, 2019-01:03
I was never a fan of the 1st gen.

The BTQ with a tiny margin for me

 By: Langepedia : November 25th, 2019-01:35
I love the first gen 1815 rather smaller, contrasting sub-dials and sharper transition between surfaces; yet, the btq is more subtle and wins over for 60 hours of reserve for me. Whichever, there is no wrong choice here. Both are splendid pieces.

Easy,

I want the pink gold for myself though

Beautiful!

 By: Robert65 : December 10th, 2019-15:49
whether it be the 403.031 or the 401.031, I get all warm inside when I see those colors! And that rose gold deployant buckle??? You're cruel!

Love both...

 By: serg70 : December 13th, 2019-06:37
Boutique edition seems to be better aesthetically, but has less readability IMHO. But still would prefer BE. WBR Serge

Power reserve...

 By: Chromatic Fugue : November 25th, 2019-04:28
I voted above for the first gen, which I own in a very different color combination (RG with black dial). A number of the comments make reference to the superior power reserve of the second gen. I understand why that might be important for watches with non...

I agree

 By: Maltie : November 25th, 2019-05:23
Power reserve is not that important for a time only watch as I also wind my watches in this case everyday.

First gen

 By: Thomahof : November 25th, 2019-07:02
The blued steel is fantastic on this watch. I don't understand why they don't release a new version with black text and blued hands... I will be first in line! Thomas

I am next in line [nt]

Yet another vote for the 1st Gen.

 By: Rhyzen : November 25th, 2019-07:06
The color combination seals the deal.

There is no wrong decision (especially when looking at the back of these two)

 By: gregnascimento : November 25th, 2019-07:25
I found the boutique edition a little difficult to read (especially in low light) so 1st generation would be my vote. Blue hands on the 1st generation seal the deal....

First Generation

 By: le_chef : November 25th, 2019-10:25
I remember long debates with a friend about the original Datograph vs. original 1815 Chronograph. I bought the 1815. Ever since I’ve looked at each new edition of the 1815 Chronograph and still prefer the original. I’ve had a number of good offers for it,...

where can I go to read about your long debates Data vs 1815 Chron?

 By: Robert65 : December 10th, 2019-15:51
I'm THERE right now and would love to read about your journey

Verbal Conversations

 By: le_chef : December 13th, 2019-15:09
These conversations took place over countless helpings of pancakes, bacon, eggs and sausages. (Since named “The Cholesterol Interviews”) We both liked each other’s watches. It’s a personal choice and in the end mine went towards the simpler execution, low...

Hard decision!!

 By: MTR : November 25th, 2019-11:54
I would prefer the 2nd generation for the improved movement. But my personal choice would be the black dialed one. Best Thomas

2nd gen for me .. [nt]

1st Generation

 By: le_chef : December 13th, 2019-15:10
Blue steel hands do it for me.

A quick one, what’s really the difference between those 2?

 By: ialienam_AUS : August 8th, 2020-14:11
I mean I just came across a 1st gen 1815 from a dealer. From a glance, I would prefer the 1st gen due to better legibility. What’s the biggest upgrade? I personally try to hunt down a Datograph, but 1st gen 1815 seems a very good value proposition too sin...

I was in this situation a few years ago...

 By: ezinhk : August 9th, 2020-06:45
and end up with black dial on WG

Sorry, but isn´t the 402.xxx the 2nd generation?

 By: Mike Stone : August 9th, 2020-15:16
From my point of view the 402.026 is the 2nd generation build from 2010 to 2017. The dial without Pulsometer scale is much clearer and so optically more independent and not so close to the datograph. Also the totalizers are larger than those of the 401 an...
