Fellow Purists. I am considering purchasing a preowned 1815, 3 hands, around 2003/4 vintage as a dress watch. My main concern is the size which is 36 mm and may be too small. I do not like large watches and normally wear 40mm. I have 7 in wrist. Obviously... 

36mm is a bit too small, even if it's a dress watch. 38.5 mm or 40 mm 1815 is better, with 38.5 mm probably being the sweet spot for a dress watch. My wrist size is 7.25"... Cheers, John

Yes, think 38 is probably the minimum. Difficult without trying it on. Lange do make larger (newer) models but price hikes up.

There are many second hand stores that will have the 36mm available to try on. I think the 36mm 1815 is wonderful.

Lovely watch but a bit too small. I ended up selling it because it was a tad too little on the wrist. I'd go for a 38mm if I were you (unless you like your watches on the small side). Otherwise It is a fabulous piece. Finishing on the movement is phenomen...

One of my favourite watches is a 36mm Rolex Explorer. When changing from something larger it takes me a day to adjust to it, but then I wonder why we need anything larger, other than for vanity.

The newer 38/39mm fit much better and still retain the aesthetic you want.

Especially for the picture Bounce. Watch looks amazing on you but I do wonder if that (exquisite model) “looks” slightly bigger on the wrist. I’ll try some other 36 models to get a try and get a feel. Much appreciated everyone. Steve

a 36 mm yellow gold 1815. The size was perfect, but I could never shake my sense that the yellow gold looked wrong on my wrist. I also remember looking longingly, post-purchase, at a rose gold version on display at a shop in Basel when I was visiting ther... 

It wears perfectly well for me but I have a slim 6.3" wrist I think it might wear a tad small on your 7" wrist, but not unduly so. ...
