so I assume some Zeitwerks stamped 2017 could have this "issue" but probability of 2018 ones have an updated movement. Have the Lange said anything about exactly when this update took place? I didn't know I had OCD until now.... sad

Zeitwerk questions: preloading of minutes disk when seconds reach 55sec

Hi, I am planning on acquiring the Z. So I researched and handles some of my friend's Zs from 2016 and two from 2017. I noticed that minutes disk is slightly moving when the second hands reach 55seconds, an action that takes place as disks are getting rea...

Great choice - the ZW is fantastic. Thanks for the super shots of the 1815.

Lange upgraded the movement a few years ago (circa 2015/2016 - I’ve forgotten exactly when) and ‘rectified’ this issue. Accordingly, the unit minute disc no longer ‘pre-loads’.

ALS updated the movement

somewhere around 2016 without making a fuss about it. I had the same question and even contacted the manufacture in Glashütte. The gist of it is that the preloading has been done away with but the movement has the same reference and there is no way to see...

I wouldn't rely on the year written into the warranty. I'd rely only upon visual inspection of the movement.

It's quite common to see warranty cards dated one or more years after the watch was manufactured.

Preload or Not

You can easely see it in the movement. Here, the mechanism for the disks has an angle; the modified are straight. ...

Yes. It's easy to see which it is...

Look at the cut-out where the fly wheel is, at the beginning of the remontoire bridge. The new version don't have this cut-out. Check out the movement shot attached here of the new movement. ...

Great choice 👍

As per other posts you can easily tell which is the revised movement once you know what to look for. Looking at approx 4 o’clock, old movement with cut out in plate. New movement without cutout in plate at 4 o’clock. ...

I thought the cut over was in 2018? You are guys suggesting 2016?

I even see movements that seem to be different than the original ones dated as 2013 so not sure how to reconcile the approximate cut in date
