Should be fine with Lange polishing

unless your scratches are very deep. They just remove a slight layer.

The laser welding is for the deep gashes. If they don't weld additional material into the gaps and then polish down , you would indeed be losing a lot of material as they try to even out the surface.

Debating whether to have it polished by them. They said it’s a laser treatment that doesn’t remove material? Never heard of that Regardless - Has anyone had theirs polished during service? I’m pretty particular about the little details. So on the one hand...

Made it look absolutely new. And, in the end, who cares if you lose 1 gram of material once every 10 years or so? Its value and beauty are not in the case weight, I am sure you know...

I had my Lange 1 polished,

It wasn't that I was asked if I "wanted to" polish but whether I "didn't want to" polish. Polishing is part of every overhaul at Lange I believe. They come as new and angles are still as good as when I picked it up!

I have had 3 Lange watches serviced including polishing/welding

And each time I got the watch back in new condition, amazing how they keep the watch in such perfect condition. One even had a good dent and by using laser welding it was completely gone restoring the watch to new preserving sharp edges and lines.

Nobody does it better. [nt]

They are one of the best! As a colleauge already said before: they use the laser technology only if there is a bigger cut or dent on the case! Yours, Adam

Yes I had it done

Had bought a scratched up 20 year old Lange 1; came back looking brand new with shiny case and sharp angles. Perfect job done by ALS. Polishing is however an extra cost of approximately $800

If you are based in NYC

and your Lange is not more complicated than a Datograph, you can bring in to Alkis. He is Lange's official service watchmaker. You will be amazed by what he can do or suggest. He is a great asset for Lange.

You will be in good hands. Yes, they do not remove materials.
